After a week of thinking about it, I'm finally getting around to posting our trip report.

Some background: although we had our first Disney experience as a couple last year, we stayed off-property and the travel to and from the parks really sapped our energy. By the end of the vacation, we were determined that if we ever came back, we would stay at an on property resort.

This year, with Shades of Green closed (I am a military member) provided us the perfect opportunity. We stayed at the Contemporary at a remarkable rate, and took advantage of the unbelievable military ticket offer, also. All in all, we realized an enormous savings on what was undoubtably our most memorable vacation ever! :smooth:

One final thing: I am an absolute Disney NUT, and have been planning for this vaction for more than 6 months. BIG thanks to all of you out there who post to these pages for your input....it made every minute of our vacation more wonderful! :teeth:

Well, then...here goes. DW and I woke up early in the morning of the 3rd and headed down to the airport. The airport people were very friendly, and the Midwest Airlines flight was, as expected, smooth and comfortable. We were picked up by Tiffany Towncar at the airport, and I cannot overstate how wonderful their service was. :) Sure beats the Mears shuttle. After a brief food stop, we headed to our home away from home, CR. After checking in (almost two hours early, at 1:30), we settled down for a little nap before our big first night event, our meal at CG.

For this vacation, DW and I decided to really do the best of Disney dining, and our very first choice was CG. When we arrived (7:10 p.m.), we were absolutely overwhelmed by the view...the panoramic from the restaurant was overwhelming, and it more than prepared us for the food, which was UNBELIEVABLE. DW and I split a pulled chicken flatbread and salad, both of which were delicious. For the entree, I had the Filet Mignon, and she had a Salmon Filet, both of which were perfectly prepared by the chefs. BTW, while sitting at our table we were able to watch the chefs prepare the food. Very cool. Anyway, for desert we had coffee and split a creme brulet. It was the best (and most expensive) meal either of us had ever had.

About halfway through the meal, it began to rain lightly, and thunderstorms were rumbling on the horizon, providing a spectacular light show. Soon after we ordered our desert, the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks started...made even more magical by the natural fireworks in the distance. An unbelievable end to a spectacular day! Then it was off to bed to get ready for our first day in the parks!

thanks so much for posting your first day........love filet mignon.....how was it........yummy just thinking of it

Both our meals were the best we've ever had......

Just waiting for our next chance to get to WDW, so I can eat at CG again!

Wonderful reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Don't you just love the CA grill. It is DH's and my favorite resturant. We love it!

Sounds like a great start to your vacation. I'm looking forward to reading more.
