Today was the day we were heading off home :sad2: We woke and started to tackle the packing! Now considering all of our purchases it wasn’t an easy task.

But we were packed by 11am and then put everything in the car.

As we didn’t need to leave for the airport for a few more hours we took the bus to DTD, we were quite glad that the weather had been so good for the past two weeks as today it didn’t look at all nice.

Once at DTD we went to the Earl of Sandwich for lunch :) I decided to try something different and chose The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce

Nathan went for his favourite Hawaiian BBQ - ham, grilled chicken, Hawaiian BBQ sauce, Swiss cheese and pineapple.

As the weather was overcast we sat outside in the warm! Soon the sandwiches were gone and we walked over to look at the Lego sculptures.

It was also clear where the T-Rex café would be as the ground was being prepared for construction next to McDonalds just before Pleasure Island. We then headed over to the West Side.

One place we had never been to was DisneyQuest and as we had AP’s we thought why not! We spent about an hour in here and had fun on the interactive rapids, built our own rollercoaster and played on a few machines! After this we caught the bus back to SSR and got in the car and had a stop at the entrance to SSR for a piccie or two before driving to MCO :(

We arrived at MCO at about 3.30pm and dropped off the car before checking in. At check in we found the pre reserved seats that we like had been allocated at the DTD checkin  So we were allocated the exit seats, which was not as nice as there is no where to stow your luggage so easily :headache: Anyway we were also advised of a delay :( Having plenty of time at the airport we looked in some of the shops and found that the Crocs shop had moved to a bigger store :)

At about 6pm we headed off to McCoys in the Hyatt for dinner. I started with the salad.

As a last meal Nathan had the buffalo wings.

After this we both had pizza, I had the sausage one and Nathan had the BBQ chicken.

Feeling rather full we sat down by the shops again for a while until it was a more suitable time to go through security as the departure gate is not that great for sitting around for any period of time. Once through security we went to the duty free at 8.30pm and soon after boarding began. The flight was quite full and took off about 2 hours late. As we had eaten in the airport we declined the food on board and tried to settle for some sleep.

Time passed fairly slowly :(

I was glad when I could finally see daylight outside and we would soon be approaching land again.

It was then time for breakfast before landing.

Upon landing we used the Iris scan and wow how quick was that, no queue and it worked first time :thumbsup2 The only downside was due to the way the hold had been loaded it took ages for the PE and UC luggage to come out, in fact a lot of economy bags came out long before the PE or UC and that caused a lot of criticism from those passengers and quite rightly so as it is meant to be part of the service those tickets pay for! Anyway once we had our luggage we were off on our way home and so the planning began for our next trip home as it was now 7 months out

Claire ;)

:thumbsup2 IRIS is great isn't it. :thumbsup2

Thanks for another great report Claire. We're looking forward to our own first trip home (albeit SSR rather than AKL) in April next year.

you packed a lot in your journey home day. I can't face doing anything on that day!

Such a sad day, the last day.

You managed to fit a lot in though. :thumbsup2 We always do DisneyQuest on our last day. :thumbsup2

Lovely last day. It is always a bit of a panic to see if all those new purchases will fit in to the cases. Next month we are travelling so light after my sons bought out the Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch shops in the summer.
