Our First Trip as Parents! December 2012 TR - 8/6 OMG a TR link!

Oh my goodness, I ADORE the California Grill! Isn't the food there just spectacular? I thought the sushi was excellent and REALLY enjoyed dessert. It's a shame it will still be under refurbishment during my next trip. :sad1:

I love all of the pictures of your son! His faces are awesome!

Woo hoo, I finally got all caught up! (yay for baby going to bed earlier now!) :woohoo: Enjoying the report! I can't wait to explore the New Fantasyland! Looks like Calvin hung in there quite well for your trip! Mmmm, California Grill! That dessert your mom got is delicious - I've had that. Yum!

CG looks so good! The sushi and dessert sound amazing. And Calvin's faces are awesome :) Had to laugh at your reason for not making it to your ADR last time and I think I'll go back and read the whole report.

Yep, that whole missing the ADR, was apparently, my fault according to DH. But I think had we gone, we would have totally regretted it, and we would have probably looked like complete fools and dinner! Would have made for an excellent TR update though! :rotfl:

Glad to see you enjoyed the bartender's recommendation...especially since it's from my home town!:thumbsup2

Very cool! Have you ever tried the Hopsecutioner? It's excellent!

I'm so late, but congrats on your cutie pie baby boy! I remember following your cruise TR a while back and you talking about how you were (or trying to get?) pregnant! Looking forward to reading about your trip!

Yes! We figured we'd have one last 'hurrah' before attempting to have a baby and, well, it didn't take as long as we thought it would:rotfl:

I had read about that refurbishment and thinking, that sucks for everyone that was planning on going there :worried: Their sushi is so delicious. A few weeks after we got home, we got sushi from a local spot and it was just not the same!

Yay! I just put DS down about 10 minutes ago myself :thumbsup2 I think he did very good on our trip. Now, i'm praying that he'll be the same for any future trips, but I have a feeling, it won't be anywhere near like this time.

I am drooling over your Cali Grill update. It was by far our favorite meal of our honeymoon. I had the Spicy Kazan too! But your appetizer looks yummy as well.

And how nice you got to end the night with a little "date" time with DH.

I promise I read every update, even if I don't comment! :flower3: :flower3:

Still not completely caught up but some great days and photos again.

MVMCP looks like a lot of fun.

A couple of weeks ago, my eldest told me she had a wish and that was to meet snow white and the 7 warfs (as she calls them!:cutie:). Looks like we will be one of those families queueing for over an hour at the Halloween party as I don't think they will last until that late!

Super hoppy and oh so refreshing. If youre an IPA fan, this was pretty marvelous. We decided to call it a night and go back to the room. Tomorrow we had some pretty amazing ADRs to look forward to. One of which we could not make it to last time for certain reasons. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Finally making the Yachtsman episode right? I guess you didn't stop at Rose and Crown or the Tequila bar before hand!

:lmao: :lmao:

Oh wow, your dinner at CG looks delicious :)

I'm not heading to back to WDW until December so hopefully the refurb at CG will be all finished up by then and we can get a table

Have you seen the artist renderings of how CG is going to look? It looks really lovely :)

I really want sushi now!

I'm hoping it's done by September! I have my sights set on September 30th!

I'm a little late to the party but I'm joining in! I just read your entire TR (enjoying a very lazy Sunday!) and I'm hooked. Your baby boy is adorable.

When we became DVC members a few years ago we became fans of the split stay. Since 2010, every trip we've been at multiple resorts. It's a little ridiculous when do it on short trips, but we love it. Bell services does all the heavy lifting, so we don't mind :)

Looking forward to more!

It was great to go grab a beer by ourselves. Even if it was really quick. Trust me, you'll cherish those moments when it's just the two of you ;)

How cute! I think if my DS ever asked to see a specific character, no matter how long of a line it is, i'll probably end up doing it too!

Actually....

we did stop at Rose and Crown :teeth:

P.S. where's the 'whistle' emoticon?!?

I haven't! I didn't even know that they had renderings. Off to find them now, thanks!

Hi and Welcome! :)

I really do think we're going to continue to switch resorts every time we go to WDW. It's just too much fun and it really wasn't a lot of work (besides the transferring of our bodies :lmao:)

I was super excited for today because our entire day and meals revolved around Epcot today. No traveling on busses and I was happy!

We had a lunch ADR at Via Napoli at 11:30am so not too far from the BWV! It was a little cold and overcast outside but definitely a nice change from the warm weather we got earlier on in our trip. We ended up leaving the hotel a little late, around 10:30am and leisurely made our way over to the Italy Pavilion. Wish I could have stopped to listen

DSC01130.jpg

A little backstory. DH did NOT want to come to Via Napoli. He really wanted to go to Tutto Italia or even Nine Dragons. I told him that it got rave reviews on the DIS and even from trustworthy people who I talk to on here. I let him read through the reviews but he was still skeptical, but ‘allowed’ me to make ADR’s anyway. Throughout the months before the trip, he would always make little jokes that I’m getting to choose all the restaurants that I want to go to (even though I picked 2 out of the 6 restaurants!:rotfl:) He’s super picky when it comes to ADR’s. Okay moving on.

We checked in right at 11:30am and asked if we could be seated somewhere, where we can keep the stroller open for DS but out of the way for servers and other guests. They were happy to do so, even though we needed to wait for a few additional minutes, which was fine.

Soon our name got called and we got escorted inside and seated off to the side, near the patio area. We were given our menus and looked them over. By the way, our server was phenomenal! And gorgeous too. She talked about her home and what she would like to do after she’s done working with Disney. I need to go back and check my receipt for her name but she was amazing and was very attentive to our needs. And she loved looking into the stroller and seeing DS.

I pretty much already knew what I wanted right away from reading others’ reviews but looked at the menu anyway

Our waitress came back with some bread and took our orders.

DSC01136.jpg

For my appetizer I ordered the Calamari Fritti. I’m obsessed with the stuff at seafood/Italian restaurants so I knew I had to try it. Um, spectacular! Not the least bit greasy and very light.

DSC01137.jpg

DH and DM both ordered the Salame e Prvolone dish with dry cured sausage and imported provolone cheese

DSC01138.jpg

They both really enjoyed it.

Now for the ‘Main’ event!

I ordered the Margherita pizza and it did not disappoint!

DSC01141.jpg

Seriously, could this look any prettier? Maybe a few more ribbons of Basil, but it looks phenomenal! So fresh and the crust was so stinkin’ amazing. In fact, I think I ate all of the pizza, except for half a slice!

DH was having a hard time choosing between two pizzas: The Carciofi (white pizza, artichoke, fontina, mozzarella, truffle oil) and the Quattro Formaggi (white pizza, mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, provolone) He ended up asking the waitress which one she liked and she said both were equally delicious but that the Carciofi was her favorite. So that’s what he got!

DSC01142.jpg

Agh! Really good! You can really taste the truffle oil in this and it was delicious!

DM ordered the Lasagna Verde

DSC01139.jpg

Haha getting ready to make a mess by putting a napkin on her shirt. She’s notorious for making messes at her first meal of the day! The kid in the background looks so happy to be there!

DSC01140.jpg

Her dish was very good and hearty. It looks small, but she couldn’t finish it.

Dessert time! Best part of any meal, IMO.

Both DM and I ordered the Tiramisu

DSC01147.jpg

Oh. My….insane. I could not stop eating this and I didn’t want to stop. I was it was a never-ending Tiramisu. Ugh, salivating now just thinking about this. DM was interested in having a Cordial too. She inquired about the Sambuca and turns out, it’s anise flavored! If you can remember waaaay back to the beginning of the TR, DM downed a few shots of Portuguese Anise to get on the airplane, so of course she ordered it! It came with a few coffee beans on top, which the waitress said is how it’s served where she’s from. Very cool!

DSC01145.jpg

DH ordered the Gelato Frizzante – ice cream soda made with San Pellegrino and vanilla gelato. I told DH that he would not like it because I drink Perrier and Pellegrino a lot at home and he hates the stuff. But of course he ignored me and ordered it anyway.

DSC01146.jpg

He said it was okay. Well duh dude! I did manage to squeeze in a sip between my scarfing-down of the Tiramisu and thought it was pretty refreshing.

So what did DH think of the restaurant?? He loved it and said he'll definitely be coming back here again to try a different pizza. He also said that he would be trusting my food choices from now on :cool1:

Thanks to everyone who recommended Via Napoli. By the way, our waitress was Sara S :)

So what does one do with a full tummy at the World Showcase?!? ;)

We really liked Via Napoli too! But we ordered completely different things that you all did. I definitely would be going back there on a future trip!

I enjoyed Via Napoli last summer. We had an early dinner ADR, but it started pouring around 2pm. We quickly made our way to Italy and asked if we could get in early. The place was packed but we were seated within 20min.

I love Calamari in most restaurants. Your app looks much bigger and more filling than the salame and cheese. Good choice.

I'd go back and try the Quattro pizza next time or the Proscutto and Melon one. They both sound so good!

Awesome that they were able to get you in :thumbsup2

I totally agree! There plates looked a little skimpy, but I guess it was good enough for them with the bread. I looked like such a pig with my calamari next to it :lmao:

We tried Via Napoli for the first time last October and loved it too!

It is so nice to be able to walk to and from Epcot from your resort isn't it?

I am a Via Napoli fan, too! In fact, I have a lunch ADR at Le Cellier, but I am thinking about changing it to Via.

Your food looks amazing. I know first hand that the calamari is really good.

Your DH's expression while looking at his drink is too funny!

Sounds kind of familiar.:rolleyes1

It's like deja vu... :lmao:

By the way, our server was phenomenal! And gorgeous too.
See, here's the thing... All the ladies around the Disboards seem to rave about how good looking the waiters are there. I've always tried to make a case that the waitresses aren't half bad looking either. Thanks for backing me up. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

She inquired about the Sambuca
:scared1:  :headache:

When I was in college, my group of friends would always tailgate before football games with one of my friends' cousins. He had a friend who was an engineer in Miami and flew back for every football game. He would always bring bottles of Sambuca and we'd do shots every 15 minutes until it was time to head to the stadium. To this day, I consider that word to be nothing but pure evil. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

See, once you eat that pizza, you're hooked. :thumbsup2

And I'm sure he didn't even notice the waitress at all. :rolleyes1

Try to cram even more in? :confused3 :lmao:

I am happy you liked Via Napoli! We really enjoy that place, very similar to real Italian Pizza.
You should try the "melon and prosciutto" pizza, soooooo yummy! :thumbsup2

Sorry for the lack of comments lately, but I had to catch up on work around the house and lots of work for school. :sad2:

Isn't that place great? Definitely one of the better pizzas i've ever had! Oh man, it's SO nice to not have to worry about transportation. I even think DH liked being at BWV, even though he's not a fan of the decor.

Ooh that's got to be a tough decision to make! I haven't been to Le Cellier since 2010 and I remember absolutely loving their cheddar cheese soup with the pretzel breadsticks

Sounds kind of familiar.:rolleyes1

It's like deja vu... :lmao:

Seriously, as I was reading your TR, I was thinking, "Was he in our party?!" :lmao:

I'll be the first to admit when there's a pretty lady. And the majority of women in the all of the countries are all good looking. And their accents certainly don't hurt :thumbsup2 Haha I gotchyour back:lmao:

Whoa! :scared1: Seriously, I could not imagine doing that with Sambuca. I mean, I could have done tequila or even vodka, but definitely not that stuff. You're a trooper!

And I'm sure he didn't even notice the waitress at all. :rolleyes1

Nope not one bit! :rotfl:

Try to cram even more in? :confused3 :lmao:

Well, we definitely crammed more of something in :lmao::thumbsup2

Glad you recommend the melon and prosciutto pizza. It sounds like a fantastic combination!
