I have never written a trip report....well wait, strike that....I might have started one and never finished, but I am determined to finish this one this time!!

A little background on us! We've been going to WDW every year since 1983 at least once. I worked as part of the WDWCP in WDW in 2001. This was to be our "last family trip" according to my parents. Yeah, like we haven't heard that before! Nice try mom! Does she really think she will be able to watch us go when she has grandkids?? Not a chance! She'll be the trip planner!

This time we decided to fly down Friday Feb. 22 and stay at SSR until Sunday March 2.

Here is the cast:

Me (27): Trip planner and Disney fanatic! I was not allowed to plan as much this trip because they thought my spreadsheets with times was too much! Let's see if they really missed them!

DBF (34): Has only been to Disney twice, once with me, once with an ex. With his ex he stayed in a campground somewhere near Claremont and our trip last June was just for three days. This was to be a whole different trip for him! Nine days, sharing a room with my sister at SSR.

Dmom (58): The leader of our pack. A general Disney lover, but now just along for the ride. When we were little she was the one who would take us on the thrill rides, and she still rides a few. She swears this is our "last family trip."

Ddad (56): Loves everything Disney like I do. Not as much of a planner though! He actually did not want to go to Disney when my mom suggested it for their honeymoon, thought it was just for kids. Who owns DVC now? Oh yeah...my dad!

Dsis (22): What to say about her. She is my sister of course and I love her. She is a bit tempermental...ok downright nasty depending on the day! She actually surprised us by being nice for the first two days of our trip! She'll ride anything with us.

Sister's Boyfriend (22): Literally just tagging along. He is not a Disney fan, nor does he really like rides. He comes because it is a family thing. This will be his second trip with the family. They've been together for almost 5 years so he is definitely part of the family!

During the months leading up to the trip I planned and I planned. I looked at every Disney website I could and tried to find the best deals. We ended up with a great deal on a car and in the end we also saved about $900 on our airline tickets. You just have to love Southwest. In the process though our flight times changed several times!

Day 1, Feb 22: The day I had been waiting for for 6 months finally arrived. I was so excited all day, the kids must hve thought I was nuts! I had been wearing Mickey sweaters as a countdown to the trip the past few days! We all had to work all day Friday. My mom, sister and I are in education while my DBF works for the cable co. and my sister's boyfriend is a mechanic. My dad, well he is now retired. A fact that he continually rubs in the face of anyone who will talk to him about it! We got it Dad, you have lots of free time!

I left school around 3pm to get home and finish packing. We were taking two cars and we'd leave when my DBF and my sister's boyfriend got out of work.

The weather was horrible! Snow, snow and more snow! The roads were so terrible that the cable company called all their drivers off the road, except those who still had customer contacts (any job requiring them to talk to the customer). Well, you guessed it, at 3pm I talked to DBF and he had three customer contacts left! That could take six hours, epsecially with the bad weather and their 2 wheel drive sleds...I mean vans. They slide all over the road.

I started to get nervous. What if we miss our flight? What if it is cancelled due to the weather? That would take precious Disney time away from me!!

As I am having a minor melt down at home DBF calls. One of his coworkers who knows he is going on vacation at 9pm has offered to take his last three jobs! :cool1: :cool1: Darren :worship: You are the best! He was 30 mins from home but with the weather it took him close to and hour and a half to get home, so he didn't get back until 5. Ok, not bad. I'm not freaking out anymore, well about him getting home, but what if our flight is cancelled?

We put on our matching shirts my mom had made for the whole family. See the trip was a "birthday/christmas" present. Meaning, they bought our plane tickets for us! :thumbsup2 Thanks Mom!

We met the rest of the family for dinner at the Aiport Diner and had a rather uneventfuly meal. The airport was easy too! Not even delayed! How come when the weather is nice we were delayed by four hours and when there is a small blizzard we are on time?

We made it to SSR to check in and got exactly the location we wanted, the springs. We settled in for a short sleep...but how can you sleep when it's your first night in Disney?

Up next our first day at DAK. And maybe I can figure out how to post pictures!

I'm finding that I enjoy writing a trip report since I have some free time!

On to Day 2:

Since we got in so late we decided to sleep in and not set any alarms. No need, my body had it's own alarm clock! There I was, up at 7. Now you have to understand that at home 7 is sleeping in, so my body was excited!! Of course DBF was up soon after I was! We got up and got ready, and suprisingly so did everyone else! Good, no bullhorns for them this morning to wake them up!

It was off to DAK for the day. First priority Dinosaur. Weird huh? You'd think Everest or the Safari...but nope Dinosaur. This is my favorite ride at DAK. There were barely any lines which was great! Of course it started raining the second we got off the ride. I'm not a fan of getting wet, so I needed a poncho. Turns out we all got them except for DBF and Dsis's DBF! The decided that wanted to laugh at us instead! I don't care what they say...I am sweet enough to melt!!:confused3

Here is my sister and I on Primeval Whirl

Here if where DBF starts getting on my nerves! We have very few pictures of us together so this trip was to serve as picturemania! Never heard that word before? Let me give you the definition from Webster's!

Picturemania (n.): an event in WDW that involves finding every single photopass person and getting your picture taken multiple times.

Yes that's right, we stalked the photopass people! At every photopass stop we'd take four sets, one of the whole family, one of DBF and I, one of the parents and one of Dsis and her DBF. Whew that takes a long time! As the day went on I became less and less patient.

We rode Everest several times, until DBF could ride no more. You see, he suffers from motion sickness and he had gotten a patch from his doctore before we left. Incidentally it had fallen off that morning even though it is supposed to last 72 hours. Riding in the rain hurts! Those little rain drops sting!

Now it was time to find something for lunch. This began the big debate. What do we eat for lunch? Do we stay at DAK for lunch? How about the food court at the hotel? When is our ADR for tonight? I, of course, had the solution. :cool2: We couldn't decide where in DAK to eat so why not go back and use the DDE at Artist's Pallette? The we can take a nap after! Yep, I am super smart.

This was also the start of everyone asking me about park hours. They would act surprised when I said I didn't know. You wouldn't let me make a spreadsheet remember folks? You thought that was overplanning. Beginning to regret it now huh?:rotfl: I don't feel bad for you!

Upon arriving back to SSR we went promptly to get food. I had half the turkey and brie sandwich which was amazing! Couldn't eat too much though, there was a $27 steak and creme brulee at Tony's calling my name that night! DBF got chicken fingers and chili which were decent.

There was no way I would make it to 11pm without a nap so back to the room we went! I barely slept because we started watching some silly forensics show about people being proven innocent after being locked up for years. It was so addicting we were late leaving for Tony's!

Sidenote:
DBF had told me in December that my mother had offered him my grandmother's diamond if he ever wanted to propose. Well she had also given him a HUGE book with ring mountings. He was so confused, and my mom was no help so he asked me to help pick out a mounting. We met with the jeweler and I picked one out, but at this point I thought he might have gotten a different one. He is so very thoughtful and knows how obsessed I am with WDW that I was hoping he might propose in Disney.
okay, end sidenote!

We arrived at Tony's and were sat immediately. Our sever came over and imagine our suprise when she was from NH, about 10 mins from us, and my mom and DBF knew her ex husband and ex brother-in-law. Weird! She was good, a bit slow, but good.
Walking in wek peeked at other people's tables. The steak looked awesome, but huge. I was somehow able to convince my sister to split it with me. Remember how I said she can be downright nasty? Well she doesn't share things....ever!
For example:
Last year she got an ice cream sandwhich that looked awesome. I asked for a bite was she proceeded to scream at me :scared: Ok I get it...no sharing! Or on Christmas Eve when she refused to let DBF and I sleep in the king bed at my parents house because it was in her old room. We slept on the daybed while she slept alone in the king. I don't get it!:confused3

Our dinner was great and the whole time I was hoping that maybe a ring box might make an appearance, but no luck! We did have fun trying to sip soda with about 15 straws in the cup. I apologize if you were there that night and saw us and were disgusted! We got a good laugh out of it!

Up next Main St and Tomorrowland.....

Love your report! So how long are you going to keep us in suspense with the "proposal on Main St" report title? :rolleyes1

Looking forward to more... popcorn:: popcorn::

You'll just have to keep on reading to find out! It's coming up! But I'm sure you can tell by my signature!!

Day 2 cont.:

We left Tony's around 8:15 after a great dinner! I'm proud to say I didn't feel hungry or overstuffed, I felt just right! Like goldilocks!

Since there was a parade at 9 people were already lining the streets. We decided to see the parade another night since it was only our first night. This would become something that would backfire on us! We kept saying it about everything, so we saw nothing!

As we're heading to Tomorrowland DBF notices photopass people are taking pictures in front of the Castle. We walk by the first one and our conversation goes somethig like this:

DBF: "Hey, want to get our picture in front of the Castle"
Me: Sure (keeps on walking since I was getting annoyed with the whole stop every two second for a photo! Darn it man, I know this is a big trip for you, but I've done it tons of times! I don't need another picture on Splash Mt! oops...went off a bit there.)
DBF: As we approach the next photopass woman near the tip board "How about here"
Me: Sure

It was at this point that DBF gave the photopass woman our card and without me knowing told her to give him a minute then take as many pictures as she can. He walked up to me and said don't cry. Of course my immediate reaction was to cry like a two year old! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!  :cool1: :dance3: I nodded through my tears and there was fumbling with the ring. People cheered, one guy yelled to say no. Main St. pretty much cleared out for us. The photopass woman took a bunch of pictures that all came out blurry! When all was said and done my first workds to him (remember I didn't say yes, I nodded) were.......

wait for it.......

YOU SUCK

Yep my first word to my new DFiance were you suck. Now if you know us it was totally appropriate for us, but my mom was mortified. I just couldn't believe he had pulled it off! He's the most kind, caring and thougtful man I've ever met so I knew it would be special, but this was great! I couldn't have planned it any better myself. He truly made my dreams come true that night.  :cloud9: I was worried this since I knew it was coming eventually, and since I had already cried when he told me it would be my grandmother's diamond, that I wouldn't cry when he finally asked. No need to worry apparently. No makeup will be needed on our wedding day....it'll be gone in two seconds!

We took tons of pictures and my mom surprised me. She had to send a picture to our coworker Colleen, who is also one of my closest friends. Turns out not only did Colleen know it was going to happen in WDW, but she had seen the ring (we got it through a teacher whose sister is a jeweler). I can't believe she didn't tell me!

I also had to send tons of picture messages out to our friends and coworkers. Well Verizon only lets you send to 10 people at a time. So I was patient and sent it out a few times...only to realize I forgot to add the picture! I must have send it 5 times that night before I got the text and the picture together!

So after lots of hugging and crying we were off to ride some rides in Tomorrowland. Do you know how gorgeous a new diamond ring looks in the lights of Buzz Lighyear? Beautiful!

We also hit up Laigh Floor Comedy which Dfiance got a joke into. Want to hear it...

Why did the turkey cross the road? He wasn't chicken. Ha ha!

We rode Space Mountain and finally decided to call it a night around 10. We were exhausted!

Tomorrow we go to Epcot....and do they make Just Engaged Pins?

How sweet! WOW! That truly is a moment to remember forever!

I bet you were on :cloud9: the rest of the trip!

I can imagine how sparkly it looked in Buzz! You find yourself using your left hand to frame a lot more things once there is a diamond on it! You hand things over with your left hand, rest your left hand on your cheek when sitting, etc, etc, :rolleyes1

Congratulations! What a guy! :goodvibes
