Just returned from 6 nights at OKW on a Mom and Dad only trip! We used the TIW card, and this is where and what we ate:
Breakfast
We had coffee in our room, headed out about 8:30 each morning, rode our favourite ride, then stopped for a snack for breakfast. We usually shared a juice and had a pastry each. I must say I enjoy the cinnamon rolls from Starring Rolls and Kusafari better than Main St. Bakery. The MSB were dry and dense. I miss the way they made them about three years ago. I had a napolean one morning from Starring Rolls, it wasn't as good as from the bakery in France. Hubby and I shared the breakfast platter from Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, and it was great, just enough for the two of us. We didn't do any sit-down breakfasts or buffets this time (which we do enjoy).
Lunch- Counter ServiceCookes of Dublin was our hands-down favourite! I had the shrimp and hubby had the fish. I couldn't even finish all the shrimp, there were about 12 of them, each two bites. The fries are amazing there, and we got some garlic mayo for dipping which was yummy too! We shared a meatball and peppers pizza from WPE, which was good. Our favourite pizza was from the pizza window in Italy. The slices are not the same as the Via Napoli pizza, they are square and thick, but the crust was surprisingly light. We both had pepperoni, which was greasy, but delicious. We ate at Peco's Bill's (taco salad and burger), it was fine.
Lunch-Table ServiceWe had two table service lunches. Le Cellier was one, Yak&Yeti the other. we have eaten many times at both, and as always, both lived up to our expectations again. At Le Cellier we shared a cup of soup, both had the mushroom filet with risotto (which IMO is the perfect combination, can't imagine eating mashed potatoes with this dish), and shared the maple creme brulee. So good, all of it! The pretzel bread was amazing and we took two pieces back to the room for an afternoon snack. At Yak&Yeti we shared the egg rolls, which we hadn't tried before. They were hot, crispy and very tasty. I had my stand-by, the steak and shrimp. Love it! Hubby had the crispy mahi mahi, which he really enjoyed.
Dinner-Table serviceCape May Cafe- We go here specifically for the crab legs, didn't waste much tummy space on anything else! we got our money's worth, it was as good as always.
Tutto Italia- We have eaten dinner here twice before. Hubby had the lasagna, it was good, nothing spectacular. I had planned on the farfalle, but it wasn't on the menu, so I had the risotto with seafood instead. It was very good, but I wish I had pasta instead. We shared a dessert, torte I think, it was just ok.
Olivia's-We ate here on our first night out of convenience really, and availability. Hubby had a fried chicken dish, I had the pecan crusted fish. There might have been 6 pecan crumbs! I was disappointed in this dish. Hubby said his was ok.
Raglan Road- This was a first for us. I had the crab spring rolls and the mighty mussels (both appetizers). The spring rolls were ok, not much crab meat. The mussels were great, the broth was so good I wish I could have drank it! Hubby had the cheiftan chicken, which he enjoyed. It was a good meal, but not one that would bump off one of our favourites.
Dinner-Counter service
I had a grilled cheese and hubby had a chicken caesar wrap from the resort one night, which were both pretty good. Hubby had mac and cheese from WPE, and I had butternut squash soup (saving room for a Ghiradelli sundae later) at WPE. Hubby makes better mac and cheese at home, but my soup was really good.
As usual, we very much enjoyed our meals at WDW! We always try to include a couple of new places each time we go, but our favourites remain the same (Le Cellier, Yak&Yeti, Cape May). We used the TIW card this time and were happy with our decision. Now it's almost time to make plans for our summer trip!
