Thursday: We started the day with breakfast at the concierge lounge again then it was off to finish MGM. Today we split up as the kids wanted to go see Buzz and Woody and Bear in the Big Blue House, more than once. Mom, Dad and Lori did the backlot tour, practically the same as 1990, the first time I was there. We remembered that you get wet on the left side and moved to the right so we only got sprayed. We also did Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, it was really interesting. We later found out that the guy who ran out of time when we were there got to the million points on the next show. Then we shopped while walking to Beauty and the Beast, it was the best show I saw all week. It was beautifully done and even the guys who warmed up the audience were good. The rest of our party did indeed get to meet, get autographs and pictures with Buzz and Woody, no Jesse though (we could not see her all week much to my nieces disappointment as she brought her Jesse dol with her and wanted to show it to the real Jesse), then saw Bear in the Big Blue House 2x and Beauty and the Beast. They had lunch at Hollywood and Vine as the kids could get the PB&J that they wanted as H&V shares a kitchen with Prime Time. The characters there were great with the kids and the restaurant was uncrowded so they spent a lot of time with them. Cassandra and Zachary were thrilled to dance with Chip and Dale and Minnie. They also spent time with Goofy and Pluto there. One of two place we saw Pluto, the other was dinner at the Garden Grill. After resting at the Poly and going in the pool. Mom and Lori also did some laundry. The laundry was empty of any other people, it was air conditioned and had a tv. I got us some snacks from concierge and we spent an hour watching and catching up with our soap operas. Cost for the washer and dryer $2.00 each and $1.00 each for detergent and color safe bleach, both in powder form.
We went to dinner at the Kona Café, one of our favorite meals of the week. All of the food was delicious and again our server was great. In fact, we did not encounter a rude CM all week long. Everyone was nice to us, we were happy to be there and went with the flow, changing plans when and if necessary. Back to the food at the Kona, crab cakes were the best I ever had. For dinner I had the mushroom ravioli, it was fabulous. My sister had another one of the pastas, which she enjoyed, her dh had the swordfish, it was wonderful and our parents split the ½ chicken meal, my mom loved it. The kids had chicken fingers that they enjoyed and the kids cone for dessert, WOW! It was a large ice cream cone standing up, anchored with chocolate and surrounded by blue cotton candy with more chocolate around the top of the cone, a large scoop of very good chocolate and vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, and mickey decorations. The kids were in heaven, mom took pictures of them with the cones. The only disappointment were the KoKo Puffs, I guess we expected something different or were too full from dinner as the portions were fairly large.
After dinner, we were off to Downtown Disney for souvenir shopping without Dad. It was a good thing we had the rental cars as it seemed it took 20 minutes to get there and even though parking was tough, I am sure getting back and forth by bus would have taken 2 or 3x longer each way. We shipped home our purchases from The World of Disney because if you buy over $100.00 and ship your purchases, you do not pay tax. We also have American Express Cards and because we were resort guests we got 15% off our purchases when using the AmEx card to pay. Between not paying tax and getting 15% off it more than paid for the shipping and we did not have to worry about fitting it in our suitcases. The next day we found out that a pipe bomb was found later that night in that area. Scary thought.
