We flew into Tampa on Saturday, November 16th arrival around 11:15 a.m. Picked up our luggage and headed out the baggage claim area to pick up the shuttle to National. The shuttle picks up in the semi-circular drive area at the end of the baggage claim (just ask someone to point it out to you - if you aren't sure). We waited less than 5 minutes for the shuttle van/bus. Once on the bus the driver asked if there were any Emerald Club Members. He drops off those guests first right in front of the Emerald Aisle. The trip was quick and the location is near the Remote Parking/Post Office on Airport property (Spruce Street).
We had a nice selection to choose from - lots of full sized cars and 3 vans!! YES! We picked out a very new Dodge Caravan and were off to the drive thru checkout in minutes. Our total price for 8 days with taxes was $165!! Very easy.
The only "glitch" was on our return trip we missed the exit for the Airport and took a lovely ride through that area. Word of warning - it's quite a drive if you miss the turn off. The staff was great when we finally arrived. The drop off was a breeze and they quickly shuttled us to the airport.
I was a bit leary about using National since it moved out of the airport but it worked out fine. It actually was a bit easier in terms of less distance to move our luggage (no up the escalator and through the parking garage). I would not hesitate to use them again.
Bit of a side note - if you are driving from Tampa to Orlando and want a nice restaurant to try for lunch, we highly recommend the Branch Ranch at Exit 17 - Plant City. The food is VERY good. Love the homemade pickles, orange pineapple marmalade and biscuits. Yummy.
