I tried to stay away from this forum because I didn't want any "dream" expectations, and I didn't say a word to my family about YOAMD.
They caught on early in our trip when they saw everyone with dream fast-passes, but I still told them not to expect anything and that having the vacation was our dream.
One morning we (me, DH, DS13, DD11 & DD2) were supposed to go to TL, but I decided to stay back with the toddler to have a quiet morning out of the sun. DH took the kids instead. While waiting in line, DH went off to the bathroom and DS went to find a park map, and DD11 was approached and told she would be the "Big Kahuna" for the day! When DH got back, he was unimpressed at first, but then got excited.
DD got a special "Big Kahuna" chair near the wave pool, they all got a tour of the park by Alex, the life guard, free towel rentals and a free big refillable mug. They also got two bags of donuts which they were more excited about than anything
. OK, so they were pretty good doughnuts.
DD got a medal to wear around her neck and at each line the CMs would welcome her as the "Big Kahuna".
They were all pretty excited--they called me back at the resort to see if I wanted to come out, but I decided not to and let them enjoy their day without the toddler slowing them down!
