OK here is what I have come up with based on the restaurant reviews

We have halfboard plus, and arrive mid afternoon Saturday 7th Feb, staying at HNY, 2 adults and 3 kids.

First night - Annettes Diner - am I right that this is a half board choice, not a half board plus? However think the menu best suited to our kids after a long day of travelling. Time - if park closes at 7, book for 6.30 pm?

Second Day - torn here between Steak House character brunch, or evening meal here. As we will hopefully have a large breakfast at HNY, will we be ready for a big meal at lunch time? Maybe I should book for 2ish, and then only need a lighter evening meal? (I am thinking out loud here!). Everyone seems to rate the character brunch highly. However looking forward to a nice more "adult" meal for my dh, so maybe an evening meal would be a better choice here?

Third Day - torn between Luck Nugget Character Buffet for lunch, or Walts for lunch or dinner :confused3 . Maybe too many character meals (is that possible?!!). But having looked at Walt's kids menu, not sure my 2 younger kids would go for it. However, if we are having big breakfasts, maybe we should be using our vouchers for evening meals instead.

As you can see, I am very undecided :confused3 , so your input will be gratefully received.

To summarize!
Saturday - Annettes at 6.30
Sunday - Steak House at 2pm or 7pm
Monday - Lucky Nugget at 2 or Walts at 6pm
Tueday - leave for airport at 5pm, with just do McD's or something like that on last day.

Help :)

Annettes is a half board standard restaurant - so you could, if you prefer, order off the normal menu and use your half board plus vouchers there at face value.

If you can, I'd suggest the Steakhouse brunch on the Sunday, and go for a late sitting. I'm even booking a Sunday morning flight for the first time ever this year in the hopes of making a Steakhouse Sunday brunch :goodvibes !

I also prefer in general to use my half board vouchers for evening meals, it stretches out the day a bit more I find, to have a nice relaxing meal after the parks have closed, or are just closing.

I'm not really much help at all am I :flower3: ? Theres just so many options on the half board vouchers isn't there?

good choices. you cant book annettes but should have no problem getting a seat before the park closes. if i was there on a sunday i would go for the brunch but you will only get your moneys worth if you are hungry. we eat our main meal at lunch time so thats probably why i would go for it. i would love to eat a walts. do you have long before you go i would keep an eye out for the menu to make sure your kids would eat what is on offer.

I have become meal-obsessed over the last week. You want to eat at the same places we had originally planned for. If it is EMH on Sunday, you might be ready for a big lunch, especially if you have had breakfast at 7.30 ish. You might need to check the opening hours of Walt's. We go on 11th and were told it was only open for dinner on the Sunday. Someone else will hopefully be able to clarify. I have the same dilemma with Walt's - my kids would probably pick at the food on the menu. I also worry that a buffet is too overwhelming and that they will be too distracted to eat. I'm tempted to starve them a bit before each meal, to ensure they eat. :rotfl: I like the kids menu at CG, but would have to upgrade to premium to afford that. Also, I think the park closes later at the weekend, so that might affect your choices. I'm almost tempted to decide when we get there, as kids can be so unpredictable with when they want to eat! Let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the input.

OK - I am getting more decided (but that may change!)

Definitely sticking with Annettes on Saturday, and helpful to know you can't book.

Sunday - will try to go for an early breakfast (all should be keen to get up!) and then a late character brunch at the Steak House

Monday - hopefully a later(ish) breakfast and a light lunch, then go for Walts for dinner. It will be our last evening there, so would be nice to book for as late as possible. I am hoping the kids will cope with the menu - and I am sure they won't starve! Two character lunches might be an overload, and I think Walt's will be a real treat for us too :)

More input still welcome :thumbsup2

I would still check that Walt's is :) open.

Is the only way to check by phoning?

I see the park hours and closed attractions are up. Is there a list of restaurant closures anywhere?

I phoned the reservations number 0033160304050. It would be awful to set your heart on a special meal, only to find that the restaurant was closed.

your choices are similar to mine.We have Half Board Plus

Thursday- Walts for dinner-ate here on Christmas day a few years ago and it was wonderful

Friday-.Lucky Nuggett Saloon-Character Lunch

No, hb plus vouchers cover this buffet apparently.

Personally I would opt for dinner at the Steakhouse. While the brunch is ok, I prefer my food hot and fresh, and prefer the options on the dinner menu.

Also I would opt for Walt's. A very special surroundings, a good menu and often good service (not always).

Annette's is always a winner, but be advised they do not talk reservations, it is a walk up, 1st come, 1st serve restaurant.

You have chosen many of our old stand bys, the others being the Silver Spur (my 3rd fav at the resort after the Steakhouse and California Grill), and King Ludwigs (not a part of the voucher deal).

I think you have chosen well.

The Steakhouse Brunch has plenty of adult choices for your husband and your children will LOVE the character interaction. Then on the following day you have a proper adult meal at Walts for your husband.

The only thing I would advise is to relax about how much your children eat. They won't starve over a few days and it's best you put out of your mind how much those meals cost you....otherwise you won't enjoy your meal worrying that they are not eating their moneys worth. :teeth:

This is excellent advice, especially as they seem to eat even less at character meals, which is why we often avoid them.

I am going to write this down and take it with me to read in the restaurants. :lmao:

:thumbsup2 I totally agree with this 100% !! My two definitely did not eat their money's worth :rotfl: .

Just been on the phone to book our meals for our trip 7 - 10th February.

Change of plans!

Decided to go for The Steak House on Saturday evening.

Planned Walts for 4pm, on the Sunday, but only open for lunch. However they serve until 3.30pm, so went ahead and booked that. Will the menu be different for lunch, or is it the same?

Monday - going for Luck Nugget Saloon for character buffet - for the kids.

Will probably go to Annettes for lunch before we leave on the Tuesday. We won't have any vouchers left by then, it seemed best to go here as it is the cheapest of the ones we wanted to go!

All subject to change by me!!! May swap things around and do Steak House character lunch on Sunday instead, if they will accept our half board plus vouchers, and go for Annettes on Saturday as we originally planned.

Who know! :confused3

Sounds good!

I have scrapped our plans for Steakhouse Brunch due to all the woo-ha about half board plus voucher.
We are now doing Lucky Nuggett on Thursday lunch,Walts for late lunch on Friday as it's not open in the evening and Cafe Mickey on Sunday at 1pm...don't know how the half board plus works there??....any ideas anyone??

We ate at Annette's in the evening, which was great fun. We had a meal at The Steakhouse in the evening and we did Walt's at dinner time (about 2pm). In my earlier post I advised checking opening times of Walt's - turns out reservations made a booking for me when Walt's was actually closed!! So my advice would be - check your reservations when you arrive! Our plans had to change quite radically because of the reservations CM's mistake.

The food our kids ate the most of was Annette's - unsurprising at it was chicken nuggets. *sigh* However, the kids' menu at Walt's suited ours better than the one at The Steakhouse. Walt's was chicken breast and chips, while the choices at The Steakhouse was Shepherd's pie or beef casserole or steamed cod - all healthy options but quite challenging for a fussy eater.

We may end up at Annettes instead!

DH has just reminded me that kids could also have burger and chips at The Steakhouse. You should definitely do Annette's - great fun. Walt's was great for the adult food and the restaurant itself - excellent service. My kids are more likely to experiment with new foods at home but when we are out, they like something they are familiar with.
