So I decided that I'll go ahead and start a pre-trip report even though our trip is only a little over a month away. We've gone on 2 trips since I've had the kids with varying results. Our first trip, my husbands first, didn't go so well, you can read about it here:
Disney Trip - 2009
My daughter was about a month from turning one and my son was almost 4. Emelyn is my daughter, she is 4 years old now but when we went back then, she was still nursing and a very, VERY demanding baby. I spent a good bit of time in the baby care center nursing her and trying to calm her down. My whole family, with the exception of me, also had the flu that week so it was pretty miserable! I really wish it would have been a better time - the crowds were the lowest I've ever seen them, looking back at the crowd calendars it was 1 and 2 the whole week! WHAT??!! We also went to MNSSHP, which was a great time!
In May 2010, after a trip to Paris was cancelled just days before we were supposed to leave, I convinced my husband to let me bring my son, then 5 years old, to Disney - just the 2 of us. My MIL was already coming b/c she was supposed to watch the kids while we were in Paris, so instead, I had her stay with my daughter - Hayden and I called it our "do-over" trip. This trip was also pretty great, crowd-wise. I normally plan out every single little detail but I wanted Hayden to run this trip, so we just did what he wanted to do! It was a lot of fun for both of us

Disney Do-Over - May 2011
Now, let me introduce ourselves. I'm Jamie, 34 years old and I've been to Disney too many times to count. I remember going to Epcot shortly after opening and also when the Studios was MGM Studios .. I still call it that sometimes. I also remember going to Animal Kingdom just months after opening. We had family about an hour from Disney so we used to go to MK like it was the zoo ... just a regular trip to a regular place, nothing special!
Here is my family - myself, my husband Wade, my daughter Emelyn (4) and my son Hayden (7)
Our next trip is planned for February 9-13 of this year and I'm SO excited to bring my kids ... I think they are now at a great age to really appreciate the parks. Wade was originally supposed to come but he's started a new job and really has no desire to go again so my mom is coming instead. I'm a little nervous about her coming with us, she agreed to come without really putting much thought into it and seems to regret her decision. I'm worried about the stress of my kids fighting as well as her keeping up with my commando style at the parks
Here are my parents:
I am actually toning down the plan to accommodate my mom as well as the kids, I don't want anyone getting burnt out and being miserable. We are skipping Animal Kingdom and making sure we take long breaks back at the hotel during the rest of the days.
This is the first time I've used a travel agent for our trip. I am using Beth from Dreams Unlimited and she's been great so far. I normally do it all myself b/c I'm a control freak when it comes to Disney, but I booked our trip just outside of the dining window and didn't really have the time to book the ressies, so I had her do it... she got exactly what I wanted and our total rate was a good bit cheaper than I was getting from the Disney site.
We are driving from New Orleans which is about 10 or so hours. Here is our plan so far:
Friday Feb 8 - Drive about halfway and stop for the night
Saturday Feb 9 - Drive the rest of the way, check into AOA (Little Mermaid Room); 5pm Chef Mickey's (our first time here)
Sunday Feb 10 - Magic Kingdom - 8:15am Cinderella's Royal Table (also our first time)
Monday Feb 11 - Epcot (lunch res at Akershus)
Tuesday Feb 12 - Studios (breakfast at Hollywood and Vine)
Wednesday Feb 13 - Back to MK for half day of whatever we missed or loved
Thursday Feb 14 - Universal (Harry Potter!!)
Friday Feb 15 - Head home - my mom is a teacher and said she needs a couple of days to recoup before she goes back to school
So that's our trip in a nutshell!
