I am so mad right now. My husband just got a call from Chase's fraud dept questioning some purchases with our card. Turns out someone got ahold of our numbers and has been buying things at Home Depot in NY - we live in the midwest. I am glad that Chase caught this and we aren't liable for anything, but we won't get a new card for 3 or 4 days. I had planned to use it for xmas shopping this weekend. We have other cards, so I can still shop. But, it still is upsetting. Does anyone know if this at all affects the Disney reward dollars that we have accumulated on the card?

Thx.

Amy

Our Disney Visa number has been stolen on 2 different occasions. The fraud dept is really good in my opinion. They have also called a couple times on unusual charges which were ours. All balances and rewards dollars were still there.

Thanks so much for the reply, that is good to know! They caught these charges immediately. I wish there was a way we could find out how the thief got the card - was it via internet purchases I made, or did they get a copy of the card, etc.

We just went through this with Chase. And it's not the first time. I caught the purchase both times. Someone used our card on the internet to buy some school items. We had to sign something from Chase saying that charge wasn't ours. We have a new card and all our reward points are transferred to it.

I had this happen with my Target Visa card several months ago. I went to make a purchase and it wouldn't go through:confused: I called as soon as I got home and they said a couple of very small purchases, like $1 or $2 had been put on the card. They said they look for those because crooks just piece together the card #'s and make what looks like a very small purchase from a company that doen't exist and if that goes through then they know the card is a good one and will go on to use it for much larger purchases. They canceled my old account and reissued me a new one that day.

They should be able to get your new card to you much quicker than that. We have Disney Visa also. On our arrival day at WDW, we learned our credit card number had been stolen. It had been used at FTD.com and at an escort service. We explained that we had just arrived for vacation and were needing that card to pay our expenses there. Chase sent another card which was delivered to the Business Center for the YC/BC the next day. And they removed all of the fraudulent charges. As for your reward dollars, it doesn't affect them at all. Your account stays the same, just your number changes. It will cancel any Reward Cards you might have active, though. We had used all of our $1100 reward dollars to pay for our dining plan upon check in. However, since we were there at the end of the billing cycle, DH called to have them transfer that month's reward $$ to our card. The card was no longer active. It wasn't a hassle, though. We picked up a new one at a guest relations window at Epcot, called to activate it, and then asked for the reward dollars to be transferred.

This exact same thing just happened to me 2 weeks ago! But it was Stop and Shop in NY. And I live in MN and still had my card in my purse. Chase rushed my card, I had it the very next day.
I cannot imagine how good they must be to actually make fake cards to scan through the machines! Thank goodness Chase catches these things.

What scares me is there seems to be a lot of problems with Chase Disney visa in particliar. Why is it so heavy chase and disney ones at that. Yes I know other cards do/ have been compromised including mine, but I seem to hear of a lot more Disney visa than others and it's even out in pulic life not just here on DIS.

I had this happen but it was with my Discover card. Card never left my possession but someone got the # and made a new car and went shopping at Walmart in NJ (we're in NE) and took cash back with every purchase! They also bought lots and lots of gas. The spree only lasted 2 days and Discover caught it and closed the account and contacted us. It was all taken care of without much hassle at all.

I too wonder how they make these cards so well to work on the machines!

So it's not just Chase this happens to, it's Discover as well!

I bet if you call them back and tell them you were going to charge a lot of purchases this weekend but now will be putting them on another card, you will have your card tomorrow;)

We are going through a battle with Chase right now. I caught the purchase - someone got not only our card # but also our shipping address. They then purchased e gift certificates online from Forever21 - that were delivered via email. Since the shipping address is right on the invoice, Chase is saying it's ours. We have the police involved now.

Over the last year 2 companies have contacted us about being hacked. This didn't really surprise me that it happened just what a headache Chase has given us about it. Everyone keep an eye on your statements! As soon as we clear this up, I am giving up my Chase Visa. Love my Tinkerbell card but their customer service has left a lot to be desired.

I was just looking at this post this morning, and what did I find later????

I went onto my credit union's website, and I'm toodling around our accounts, making sure all is well, and there's a $1 missing from our available balance on the CC. The CC we only have, now, for hubby's work trips, for places that don't take his work card.

I had to have him call...it's a pre-auth charge of a dollar, from a week ago. From the place that employs hubby, but we have NO charges or orders or anything that should be going on, and especially not on THAT card.

So a'cancelling we went.

So now that's done. I'm freaked. Interesting, how different it feels, even when nothing bad ultimately happened, when it happens to you vs when you just read about it!

Oh my goodness, I feel your pain!!! Ours was stolen and we were contacted about 2 weeks ago - they were pretty good with getting us a card quick. We were contacted by them Sunday night and had our news cards by Tuesday. Anyway, when we logged on to our Chase account online, all of our rewards dollars had been transferred and everything was exactly correct.

I wish soooo badly they would catch who did it - I think sadly it will only get worse with the way the economy is. I can't believe what people will do!

Anyway, hope this helps alleviate your worry! Good luck!

Our stolen card # was used at a Walmart as well! Too strange...

any chance your fraudulent charges were in NY also? I find it so odd that mine and the OP's cards were both used in NY, both Chase Disney Visa's and in such a short time span.

My Disney visa was stolen that way too. And my stolen charges were in NY too.

But they told me if you want a card immediately call them and they will overnight the card...call right now and you might get it on Friday.

I hope this helps
