Let's start on Monday 10/24 when category 2 Wilma plus some "mini" tornados do a number on our house, luckily the damage was confined to the exterior of the house, but we did lose power.

Tuesday 10/25, still no power

Wednesday 10/26, still no power, we wake up early and decide to head for Orlando, making reservations on the way. We grab the APs and some clothes and go. We arrive at the POFQ about 1 pm, explain our story to the manager and check in. DH is frantic to set up the laptop and get back to work so DCs and I decide to head to the MK--after our first hot showers in 3 days.

Well the MK is packed and I mean Christmas break packed, not sure why but after we ride small world we hop the monorail to Epcot. We ride Spaceship Earth and Figment. DH meets us about 6 pm, we grab dinner at Seasons in the Land (not really impressed) and hit Test Track and Mission Space. We snag a bench near Odyssey and watch Illuminations.

Thursay 10/27
After Mickey waffles DH goes back to the room to work and DCs and I decide to hit MGM. It was empty, we were able to ride everything we wanted, and see the Beauty and the Beast show and the Lights. Motors, Action show too. Back to the room about 3, DD naps, DS and I hit the pool, run into some friends--It seems that half of Palm Beach County has "refugeed" to Disney. We decide to hit Downtown Disney for shopping and dinner--Fulton's Crab House (again not impressed) Stop to see the band on Pleasure Island for a little while and then bed.

Friday 10/28
After Mickey waffles DH hits the laptop again and we head to AK. NOw DH really does not like AK so we haven't really been on anything other than the Safari ride. Kids and I have a great day, again the park isn't really crowded and we can do anything we want. We see all the shows, DCs really love Tarzan Rocks as do I--wow Tarzan is a real hottie. After gross Mcd's lunch (kids wanted Happy Meals) we go back to the POFQ, again DD naps while DS and I hit the pool. We meet other neighbors who have an ADR in Morocco so we decide to join them. We're a party of 9 and had a blast, after many many Sahara Splashes we closed the park, had to be chased out by the CMs.

Saturday 10/29
Still no power at home. Mickey Waffles again. THis time DH joins us for the MK, we are there early and have a blast, crowds are very light in the am, I guess they pick up for MNSSHP. Today we all nap and hit DD for dinner, meeting still more friends at Wolfgang Puck's. I really enjoyed dinner, as did everyone.

Sunday 10/30
Now things are getting repetative. Mickey Waffles again, Epcot in am, ride all of FW rides/attractions except Ellen's Energy Universe because DH needs to watch the NY Giants game. He watches in the room, DD naps, DS and I swim, blah, blah, blah. MGM in the pm for Fantasmic at 7 pm, it's EMH at night so we ride TOT, RRC and watch the Voyage of the Little Mermaid again. Now I realize that tomorrow is Halloween and that $70 of costumes are in my closet 200 miles away. I refuse to replace them at full disney retail so we hit Wal-Mart for some cheapies, DCs are NOT happy but deal.

Monday 10/31
Still no power, Mickey Waffles again. DH has to work, MNSSHP is sold out but the POFQ has some events scheduled and there's a campfire at Riverside. MK again, at this point I am talking back to Philharmagic and will hurt someone if forced to ride small world again. I send kids on everything I can get them on alone and am thinking about hiring a CM to escort them on everything else when DH calls to say power is restored and we can go home tomorrow AM. This perks me up so I take kids to GF cafe for lunch--food was great but we waited 1 hour to be served, when I complained they comped us all desserts which was nice. Now it's Halloween, kids get dressed up and we trick or treat around the POFQ--it's very cute, there are CM's all over giving out candy. We walk along the river to Riverside to check out the campfire but we are eaten alive by bugs so we quit and take the boat back to POFA after dinner at Boatwrights (very good).

Tuesday 11/1
Home at last, after one last Mickey waffle.

If you have to have a hurricane I supposed this is the best way to go. Now back to the real world. :flower: :wave2:

Your attitude is great. As they say, if life hands you a lemon, make lemonade. Glad you had a nice time and hope you didn't suffer too much damage. :sunny: :sunny:

I can't imagine being close to disney and saying....YUP ....we can have waffles again ......thanks so much for your good attitude hurricane report.....hope you don't have to worry about any more for a long while

Too funny. We were there at the exact same time, for the exact same reason. We arrived Wednesday afternoon and arrived back home (with power/running water ;) ) Tuesday afternoon.

I agree with you about Wednesday afternoon, MK was crazy. Luckily, once we were able to do the "arrive at park opening" thing, it was like we were in another world it was so empty.

Lucky dogs! We didn't have our power back until yesterday at 10:45 am. Couldn't leave town b/c we're both hospital personel, and they won't let nurses, etc off of work after such an "event". Doing better, waiting for the infamous "blue tarp", hoping and praying for no more rain until we get it. :fish: :paw:

How to turn a bad experience into a good one! :)

Now things are getting repetative
How I would love the chance for POFQ (or any WDW resort!) to get repetitative! Maybe not at the price of hurricane damage

Wow! 1,000 posts - I spend way too much time on here for someone without a trip in the offing!

Thanks for the "trip" report. My parents escaped with our kids to Disney (Shades of Green) while my husband and I took care of the major hurricane damage to our house. No power for 10 days and I just got my internet up today, 11/9. It was hard to let my kids go without me but they were better off up there. Glad you managed to have fun in spite of the circumstances.

Thanks for posting. Its kind of funny we got flu shots yesterday and told our pediatrician about our recent trip to WDW (the week before you were there). She told me her sister who lives in Miami had refugeed to WDW the next week along with many other people. Almost makes a hurricane survivable I guess! Hope your life is back to normal now!

We should've though of that when Ivan rolled through here last year. Glad you were able to have some fun! That's a way to enjoy a hurricane...
