My report contains both our on & offsite dining experiences. Hope that is OK!

We woke up early Thursday morning for our first day at the parks! We headed out to the HIFS buffet by 7:30 and were glad we did since by the time we were done eating there was quite a line forming. For those not familar with Holiday Inn Family Suites, their room rate includes a breakfast buffet every morning which is a big draw for families staying there. The buffet had these basics the same every morning: oatmeal, grits or cream of wheat, cold cereals (like fruit loops, etc.), yogurt, fruit, bagels, donuts, english muffins and bread for toast. The "main course" changed daily but we saw a rotation of pancakes and sausage, french toast and bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, ham with some form of potato like hash browns or tator tots everyday. For us, the buffet was fine and the kids really liked it. I usually just had oatmeal and some of whatever the meat/protein offering of the day was and it was always good and hot. We ate breakfast there every morning until we moved to Universal and noticed a big difference on our budget after we started having to "pay" for breakfast!
Since we didn't have a chance to eat at the RFC at DTD, I made a PS at the AK location for 12:30. I knew my kids would love the atmosphere and they certainly did! We only had to wait about 5 minutes before were seated but after that, we waited and waited and waited (at least 15 minutes) and no one came to our table. I was getting impatient since after our lunch we were heading to Disney Studios and with the shorter park hours, every minute counts. I finally stopped a waitress walking by and asked her to please find our server. We saw here speaking with a waiter and after a few more minutes she returned and explained that the hostess had seated us at a "closed table" and that was why no one had waited on us yet. She introduced us to the waiter who would be serving us (I was a bit put off that he didn't come over and explain the situation himself & he never apologized even though I realize it wasn't really his fault, it still would have been nice since we were obviously in his station). We ordered right away, the kids both got mac & cheese, my husband and I both got the Bamba's BBQ Wrap except mine was chicken and his was beef. The waiter asked all of us (even the kids) if we wanted fries and we all said yes. However, he neglected to state that they cost extra and since the kids barely touched theirs, I would have said no if I had known. The food was all good, but I thought the service stunk. Our bill was also a lot for just sandwiches and fries (over $60) and we only drank coffee and water!
For dinner we headed back to our room and used our free Pizza Hut pizza party coupon that I had received from a sweet person here at DIS. It was good for a medium 1 topping pizza, 5 breadsticks and a 2 liter of any Coke product. It was enough to fill us up and it was nice to eat & relax in our room for the evening after a tiring day at the parks.
