We love to plan our trips around meals and seeing the characters. This was no different
Saturday 10/9
Lunch - Big River Grille & Brewing Works
We had tried this a few years ago and it was just eh. We had just checked in and decided to eat here before heading to MGM Studios. We had the crab dip appetizer and it was great. My DH had the Big Brew Burger and I had the Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich. Both were very yummy. DS had grilled cheese. Oh DH had the Oktoberfest beer and said it was excellent, as a matter of fact he had two.
Dinner - The Flying Fish Cafe
This is my favorite restaurant at WDW. We were seated in the back room area and I kinda felt like we were right on top of the table next to us. DH got the seafood minestrone soup and I got a caesar salad and we had the crabcakes. Excellent
I got the Char Crusted New York Strip Steak, that is one honkin piece of beef. It is incredible. DH got the salmon and said it was super. DS got the noodles, sauce on the side. While we wanted dessert, we also needed to run to the food store so we skipped it
Sunday 10/10
Breakfast - Nothing really, just a few little powdered donuts in the room. We wanted to get an early start to the MK so my DH and DS could get haircuts, its a tradition for them.
Lunch - Beaches & Cream
My DH and I both got burgers and they are the best burgers ever. DS was kinda in the beginning stage of a meltdown so my DH ended up leaving to take him back to our room. This two seconds after our wonderfully patient server put our food on the counter. She was great, trying to get my son to smile, but no go. After I inhaled my burger and drank half of the fantastic milkshake, she helped box everything up for me.
Dinner - Chef Mickey's
It was great. I could eat plate after plate of those mashed potatoes. The roast beef was great as was a pork tenderloin that was there. It had been a while since we were here, I think we will try breakfast next time.
Monday - 10/11
Breakfast- in the room again. Today I was going to the Grand Floridian Spa to have a massage and a spa pedicure and manicure for my birthday present. I was over at the GF and totally starving so I had to buy a box of Chip & Dale Chocolate Chunk Cookies to get something in my tummy. Come to think of it they are downstairs. There will now be a brief intermission so I can go get a cookie.
Lunch - I grabbed McDonalds drive thru on the way back from the GF. What can I say, but its McDonalds. The highlight for me, the person in the drive thru asked me if I was a Cast Member. I had on a navy blue and green WDW jacket (it was pouring all day) and she thought I was a CM. That is still just a dream for me, hopefully someday to be come reality...anyway...I got the filet o fish value meal for anyone still reading along. DH and DS ate at Flame Tree BBQ at AK and he got the pork sandwich. I don't think Matt ate much of anything there, so I got him those new chicken strips from McDonalds and they are quite yummy.
Dinner - Spoodles....
until we looked at the menu. It was just quite funky. More funky than I remember. We tried it a few trips ago and it was okay, but this time seemed more so. Even the server said a lot of guests have said it was a bit much. So I made my DH go see if we could get a table at my favorite The Flying Fish
YAY! Creature of habit that I am, I got the same NY Strip Steak again and it was as perfect as 2 nights before LOL. I also got the caesar salad. My DH tried the halibut. It was his and my first time trying it and it was excellent!! Not a lot, but thankfully that honkin piece of beef is to big for me to finish, he had a bit of surf and turf
My son got the noodles again. Tonight we had dessert and coffee
We had a special friend with us for dinner and were having a great time. Her and I split the Valrhona Chocolate Souffle, it was to die for
My DH got the Banana Napoleon and said it was super. I can't take bananas, so I could only take his word for it. It was another fantastic dinner
Part 2 coming soon.
