ABC Commissary - Lunch: Bacon Cheeseburgers and fries all around - standard CS food. The burgers weren't very hot and were pretty dry, but the veggies were cool, crisp and fresh. The fries were hot, fresh and tasty. Surprisingly, it's A LOT of food!
Nine Dragons - Dinner: Walk-up - seated within 5 minutes! The service was fantastic - our server was a sweetheart and had a terrific personality. We ordered apps - potstickers, spring rolls, and dipping sauces - all very tasty, hot, and fresh! DH and DS both ordered General Tso's - they both loved it! I tasted it, and it was, in fact, very good! The breading was light and did not overwhelm the flavor of the chicken or sauce. Again, very hot, fresh, flavorful food. DD ordered the house fried rice - first of all, you could split this between 4 people, because it's HUGE! LOL The rice and veggies were cooked well, and the shrimp were perfect, BUT, to me, it lacked in the flavor department. DD, on the other hand, absolutely loved it! I ordered the Happy Family, which was, as with all of the other dishes, fresh, hot and yummy. The beef and chicken were very tender, and the sauces were interestingly different than anything I've ever had before. Very good! The shrimp were slightly overcooked, but otherwise, we were very pleased with all of our choices. The strawberry red bean ice cream was delicious, and the ginger caramel ice cream was a little heavy on the ginger flavor. (DH liked it a lot, but then again, he really likes ginger, sooo...) I admit that I was nervous to eat here, based on some of the reviews I've read, but we would definitely eat here again.
Boma - Breakfast: Sweet baby, all 4 of us agreed that this was an excellent choice for breakfast! Every single thing we selected was delicious! The hash - turkey bobotie - french toast bread pudding w/ pecan praline sauce - the potatoes - OMG, just call me Oinker and roll me out the door.
There really isn't anything more to say! We had ADR for this, and we were seated within about 10 minutes of arrival. The service was good for a buffet, and we will definitely eat here again!!!
Tutto Italia - Dinner: Party of 4 - two adults, two teenagers - $197.34 for mediocre (at best) food and lousy service. Frankly, I have had consistently better meals at Maggiano's and even Carrabba's for far less money. The ONLY good things about our meal - we were seated immediately, in spite of being early for our ADR, and the assistant waiter who kept our drink glasses full. Aside from that, we saw our waiter 3 times during the entire meal - to take our apps/drink order, to take our main course order, and to settle our check. We waited a very long time to be greeted at our table - over 15 minutes. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, which was good - not the best I've had, but not the worst, either. Our cocktails were not worth the price - not by a long shot. The entrees were supremely disappointing... DH's sole was soggy, although it would have been something to rave about otherwise. (This was the ONLY dish that was actually flavorful!) My risotto was undercooked, and the sauce was oily and separating - while the shrimp were cooked well, the dish was ridiculously bland. Both kids ordered the fettuccine, which had clearly sat under the hot lamps for far too long - the pasta was tough, the sauce had congealed/thickened, and it lacked flavor. All of this was shocking, as we were presented with our entrees VERY quickly! In hindsight, it seems apparent that the food had been mostly pre-plated and sat under the lamps until needed. I have determined that it was either A) a fluke bad night, or B) all of the great reviews were made by people who don't know what "good food" really is. I would have been disappointed if this had been a $50.00 CS meal... but for nearly $200.00? Seriously? Never again.
Pepper Market - Breakfast (x2): We ate here twice, as we stayed at CSR, and it was convenient. The food was tasty, fresh and hot, and in my opinion, it was a good value - roughly $50 for the 4 of us. The portions were quite large, and none of us left feeling even remotely hungry! If we stay at CSR again, we'll definitely do breakfast here at least once or twice.
Studio Catering Co. - Lunch: Good choice for a CS meal. DD and I split the Pressed Turkey Club w/ Fries, and DH had the same for himself. Good flavor and fresh! DS had the Sloppy Joe - he said it was good, but he still felt hungry after he finished. (The kid's almost 15 and an athlete - it takes A LOT to fill him up!) We would eat here again if we wanted to have something other than a burger.
The Crystal Palace - Dinner: I've read a lot of bad reviews, but I can honestly say that we must have gotten lucky! We were seated within 15 minutes of checking in - that place was a flipping madhouse out front, and they were not accepting walk-ups. Everyone was smiling and pleasant. Our server greeted us immediately and took our drink orders - he let us know that Tigger would be over in approximately 15 minutes, so we had time to get started if we wanted. I can't attest to everything on the buffet, but everything I had was delicious! I had turkey breast, mashed potatoes, spoon cornbread, broccoli, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls w/ shallot butter, gravy - pretty much Thanksgiving Dinner.
The ONLY complaint I heard about any of the food was the peel-and-eat shrimp - DH and DS said they weren't very good. There were several desserts to choose from, and while they were good, none of them really wow'ed me at all. The character interaction was outstanding! Now that we've "done it" we probably won't do it again, just because our kids are older. The food was good, as was the service, but I feel as though you're definitely paying for the experience more than anything else. It was "worth it" for this time, but it won't be in the future, if that makes any sense.
