Okay..This is our 7th trip in 5 years. Have always wanted to have the Disney Christmas experience. I am satisfied now and am convinved that this is absolutely the worst time to go to Disney. Actually, Christmas Day was not that bad, crowd wise. The most negative experience was our Christmsa Dinner at Crystal Palace. The menu was not what was told to me when I made our PS. We could have had the same experience at an all you can eat steak house. TOTAL CHAOS.
As the week progressed, the crowds worsened.
We stay at the Swan and have always been pleased. This time the front desk attendants were less than cheery. Sour might describe them. Our rooms (4) however were very nice and the view was good.
I think that I was struck this time by the inflated food and beverage prices. Although they have always been high and I understand that it is a given--I noticed more young families with young children who obviously had scrimped and saved for their trips having to tell their children that they would have to have water from the fountain and wait until they left the parks to eat. I remember our first family trip being a budget trip--I hated the feeling of not being able to feel good about buying such simple things!
A few 'housekeeping' issues: The bathrooms at the parks were the worst I have ever seen. The Christmas Bear Jamboree needs a complete overhaul! The music was out of sync and the sound in some spots was uneven and hard to hear.
Although the Osborne lights were amusing, they looked much better in Little Rock. The whole spectacle being that it was so much in a lot less space. Let's not even talk about the soap suds snow flakes.
Prime Time Cafe has lost a lot of its spark. After witnessing some nut almost socking a man with young children -- the man with the children was trying to sit on the couch in front and mistakenlly sat on the nut's bag--I found that the interaction between the servers and the guests was almost non-existant. Clearly, the object was to serve the food--get the people out.
Well, sorry to be so 'bah Disney humbug' but I think that I am willing to pass my 'Disney fanatic torch' now.
