Our cat is missing!

It has been one week today and our little guy still has not come home. I just want to cry. DH is certain he is just out doing his cat thing, and I am trying to maintain some hope, but it dwindles just a little more every day. We have been to the shelters, filled out a lost pet report, spoke to neighbors to be on the lookout. I have left food at the front door and in the back patio just in case.

Has the food been eaten? I am so sorry. I sure hope he finds his way home. Does he have on a collar or is he microchipped? Is it possible he wandered a bit further then usual and someone has taken him in not knowing that he belongs to someone?
For 9 years I fed what I assumed was a stray cat, I assumed this because he was real shy, I fed him from day one and bought him a dog house to sleep in, but would not come near us. Well throughout the years he warmed up to us, finally after nine years he was real sick. I had no choice but to take him to the Vet. imagine my suprised when I found out he was neutered, which meant the whole time he must have belonged to someone.
My point is, someone well meaning who might not have been in an area that you put your sign might be feeding him. If thats the case he may make himself comfortable (as our cat supposedly did) and he may stay put.
Keep up the faith. I hope he is safe and being loved no matter where he is, and I hope he makes his way home to you real soon.

I'm keeping up hope for you. I posted earlier (post #9) that my cat had been missing for a week before we got her back!!

This is my hope as well.

The problem with the food I have left out is that we have many cats in our neighborhood so even the though some of the food has been eaten, I don't think it is our cat who ate it.

I do think that I will extend the area of our flyers in case he has gotten farther away than I thought he would.

I keep going calling him every evening just as I always have and every once in awhile I hear DH call for him too.
