Our awning broke.....Quick Shade instead of awning replacement?

We have a pop up camper. Last camping trip we had a really heavy downpour and we must not have tilted our awning enough because we suddenly heard a loud noise and we rushed outside. The metal poles had bent in half! And the awnin had torn right down the middle. We need a replacement. I was wondering about getting something like a quick shade instead and putting it right against the front of the camper. It's probably larger than a regular awning and I thought it may be more durable as well. Plus it is portable if we need it to be. What do you guys think? Anyone ever forego an attached awning?
