Our 2nd Trip to Disney! Did it Measure Up? (w/pics) **THE END**

Carissa so glad you guys had fun at the P&PP. It sounds like a blast. LOVED that you got Mickey head ice cream, we do that every trip at least 3 or 4 times!:goodvibes

I prefer the icecream sandwiches over the Mickey bars (the vanilla icecream covered in chocolate). I think they're easier to eat (for the kids) and tastier :) Two of the three that we had, though, we way too frozen. They're much better when they're a bit soft.

I hope to get another update posted a little later. Things have just been a bit crazy around here with the boys being sick. Sully went to school yesterday, but he coughed all day and looking back, I probably shouldn't have sent him (mainly because I feel badly that he passed on all of those germs). He started complaining of an ear ache yesterday evening and he was up a lot last night because of it. Poor thing is on the couch at the moment and he's just miserable. We got back from the doctor (I feel like the clinic/hospital is our other home) and he's now on antibiotics for an ear infection and he's taking it 3 times a day just in case he also has some form of a lung infection.

Anyway, our family has recently decided to give up Scouts, as it was just taking up so much of our time (and my brain power). So, that should give me some extra time to finish up my TR! :)

Carissa i hope that sully get better soon. we have finally gotten all the bugs out of the house, i hope!!! We all seem have has something durring the months of nov/dec/jan... flu bugs, stomach bugs, ear aches, I told dd1 (who gets sick most often of all the kids... see she was breastfed the least! LOL) that if she keeps missing school she wasn't going to be able to miss school to go on vacation! LOL DS on the other hand hasn't missed a day of school yet and was all on track to get perfact attendace this year... then me and dh had to go and plan this vacation that he'll miss 3 days of school!!! oh well.
We are also scouts drop outs, it was just so so time consuming and me and dh weren't even that involved but it was just to much!!
can't wait to see more pics and another update!!! :)

Aw - hope Sully feels better soon!

We are probably going to be Scouts drop-outs, too. Ds' den is relatively lame, and he never wants to actually prepare for any of the activities - and then gets upset because he doesn't win. But, in the meantime, dh's volunteering for helping organize the spring campout has come back to haunt him. At least he's only *on* the committee, and not in charge.

The problem with volunteering for anything is that once you give of yourself, most organizations just keep taking. I can't blame them since I know how few parents actually helped out the pack. Our pack was very active and it just took more and more of our time.

Oh well. The boys are looking forward to doing soccer (Owen) and track (Sully) this spring.

Yeah - I'm only on one organization. I volunteered to join a committee a few years ago. About 9 months in, one of the co-chairs resigned, and I agreed to become co-chair. One of the deals was to make the monthly report to the board. And gee, since you have to go to the meetings, you may as well join the board, right? I'm trying to keep it from taking too much of my family time, but I always feel bad that I'm not doing more for it, too.

Both ds & dd will be starting swimming lessons in a couple weeks - this will be the 1st activity they both get to do at the same time, which is cool - different classes, but they meet at the same time. This will actually be dd's 1st activity, besides pre-school.

See, that's how I feel too. I feel that if I'm den leader, I'm going to give it my all. I can't just give 50%. So, I'd rather not do it at all if I can't give 100%. Not sure which is better.

Poor Connor. Being the third child, he's really gotten the short end of the stick. He's never done any activities of his own. Sully did Kindermusik and all sorts of stuff. Owen's done quite a bit too. But, since we've been so busy with the other activities, Connor's always just gone along for the ride. I'd really like to find something he and I can start doing, such as story time at the library.

I tried doing an update, but Photobucket is doing maintenance and I can't get to my pictures. At least the update is written and I just need to add the pictures when the site is back up again.

I can so agree with this... my youngest is the same way... she's 3 1/2 and never been to preschool (mainly b/c my first two were able to get into a free school program but also b/c dd2 is to young to get in b/c of her summer b-day). My oldest has doen sport after sport, my middle dd has done a few sports we just signed her up for gymnastics but i'm was hesitent to sign up DD2 also b/c it's $35 a month per child per class... that's $70 a month!!!! Plus a $30 per child per year fee! YIKES... mabye i'll enrole DD2 next month! LOL

I would have put Connor in preschool this year (not full-time, but just for fun), but with his toilet issues that really wasn't possible. I also wanted some one-on-one time with him before he started school. Not sure what will happen this Fall. Depends on whether or not we get the boy potty trained.

I am finally caught up! You are doing such a wonderful job!! :goodvibes

And I hope you get to do that 2009 trip....I see you're thinking of Christmas week!!!

Just started reading your trip report today and I'm hooked. Your boys are just adorable. We went in April 2007 and won't be back until Dec. 2009. Maybe we will see ya there. :)

:welcome: Stephanie! I always love when new readers join us. Are you thinking of going the last week of December?

I just saw you had dates...silly me for not noticing earlier. I am hoping that we will be there from the 17th till the 26th. Our 10th Anniversary is on the 18th so I am hoping to be there for that and I am hoping for a MVMCP on that Friday. My youngest will turn 4 on the 21st of Dec. also so I thought that would be nice to be there for and my parents are planning to come for the first time in over 20+ years and my Mom's birthday is the 22nd. I was originally planning to leave on the 25th, but who wants to leave Disney on Christmas Day. :rotfl:

Are you planning to stay offsite again? We are planning to stay onsite right now... hopefully POR. I would love to stay offsite for the room, but DH keeps saying this is our last trip so I better do everything I want to this time. :confused3 I know crazy who doesn't love Disney.

Can't wait for more of your days. It is so nice when I find ones with people who have kids about the same age, because it gives me ideas to do with them. Loved your P&P fireworks pics. So pretty!!!

Our dates are only tentative (the whole trip is pretty much tentative :rotfl: ). If we go, we will most likely stay off property again (stick with the same website for the townhouse, but go with one of the other places they have that's more Disney themed).

I'm about to check and see if photobucket is back up yet!

Since we knew we'd be out late at the Pirate and Princess Party, there was nothing planned for this day except the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue in the evening. Even though the boys went to bed late, they were up at 7 a.m. My kids NEVER sleep in.

We had a leisurely breakfast. Breakfast for the week consisted of cereal, bagels, toast and granola bars (not all of those items at once - those were just the choices). There was also fruit in the form of bananas, apples and raisins.

Did you guess who was caught sneaking to the pool at 9:30 in the morning? It wasn't one of the kids. Mr. Ihaven'tswamintwentyyears was ready for a dip bright and early! So we all got our suits on and played in the pool for a while.

I decided that this day would be our best bet for heading to Downtown Disney. I had planned to go on another day in the afternoon, but that would have been after being in a park and I figured we'd all just want to relax in the pool at that time.

After our swim, we all got dressed and headed to DTD. It was another gorgeous day. As you can see in the pictures, we were wearing shorts! When we arrived it was just about lunchtime. I had wanted to try out Wolfgang Puck Express, but it appeared to be closed for renovations. We headed over to Rainforest Cafe and figured we could share some food and stick to burgers. The wait was about 15 minutes and I guess we were impatient because we decided to go to Earl of Sandwich instead. I really don't think that move helped save us time since the line in EOS was long.

We still got pictures in front of the Rainforest Cafe:

As we were walking over to Earl of Sandwich, there were a bunch of birds out along with their handler. They totally cracked me up because she was trying to talk to the crowd, but the birds were being SUPER loud. It was so loud that we had to walk away to protect our hearing ;)

Memere and I gave Pepere and Chuck our orders and we headed over to Once Upon A Toy with the boys. I figured we could do the Make Your Own Lightsaber thing while we waited.

Well, let's just say that I'm not really good at putting lightsabers together.

We attempted to make them and then I gave up. I told the boys we would return with Daddy after lunch. Daddy would be able to figure those crazy things out!

We found a couple of tables outside of EOS and waited for the men and the food to arrive.

(By the way, the beads Connor has on are loot from the P & P Party.)

Per usual, the food was yummy. We bought two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (the best PB&J sandwiches you'll ever have), although we should have only gotten one as they're very filling and the boys didn't eat much.

Sully and I shared Cannonballs (meatball sub).

IMG_3228.jpg

Chuck had the Original 1762 (roast beef with horseradish sauce).

IMG_3230.jpg

And my parents shared the Full Montagu (roast beef and turkey). Sorry, didn't get a picture of theirs. We all greatly enjoyed our lunch.

With full bellies, we attempted once again to tackle the making of 3 lightsabers. What a fiasco this turned out to be! It took Chuck a while to figure it all out. I guess the CM that was around helping everyone else didn't notice the confusion on our faces. Chuck did Sully's first and then we both made one together with the boys choosing the pieces they wanted. And Dani, these pictures are for you! (Sorry there's not more.)

And then it was time to check out.

For inventory purposes, they have to scan EACH part of the lightsaber. This takes a REALLY long time, especially when you have 3 to ring up! For $19.99 each, they got a lightsaber, a pin (either a Jedi or Sith - their choice) and batteries to make it work. Not a bad deal. I just don't think I'd recommend it if you have a bunch of kids getting it done!

Here's each boy with his lightsaber:

With our Jedi's in tow, we headed outside to show Memere and Pepere (who were waiting for us outside).

Let the battle begin!

We then headed to the Lego store and let the kids play outside for a little while. On the way, we stopped to chat with these folks:

In the play area:

We gave the boys a choice of either picking out some legos OR waiting until Japan to get some Pokemon stuff. Owen decided to wait, but Sully is a boy of immediate gratification (wonder where he gets that from :rolleyes1 ). He chose the legos.

Then Chuck decided HE wanted to fill a container with lego pieces. His reasoning was that he wanted to pick pieces that we needed for things at home. I just think he thought it would be fun. The rest of us waited outside, sitting on the benches next to the Lego store.

Once Chuck rejoined us, it was time to head back to the townhouse and change before we left for the Hoop Dee Doo.

Important Info

* Earl of Sandwich - $31

*Souvenirs - $85 (lightsabers) and $20 (legos)
