Our 1st time to WDW

What a memory you have created for Hannah! She sure is brave riding the Orange side of Mission Space :scared1: I'm not even that brave (how old is she?!!) She is a little cutie :)

You mentioned something about possibly seeing characters at MCO - that would definitely be a great idea to get everyone in the spirit (of course, they would have to be gated in at the ME area but I never even thought of that prospect before). Only characters I've seen at the airport aren't worth getting an autograph ;)

Thanks. she just turned six the week before our trip. her favorite DVD has been the trip planning video and she spent alot of time discussing what she wanted to ride and see. As for the airport, I really did not know what to expect I guess a part of me thought (or wished) the characters would be on the flight with us, or greeting us as we got off the plane, TSA bag screening, or who knows, right? It does sound like a good idea to have Micky or Donald in a secure area in the DME waiting lounge to get the good vibes going...

After Ellen's ride (sorry, I am in the habit of renaming the attractions, Expedition Everest becomes "The Yeti" ride as our TR progresses) It made sense to dial back the commando tour mode a couple billion notches, as we were really making good time on seeing everything. it allowed us to really absorb all the sights and sounds. we took a leisurly stroll on our way to the showcase pavillions, looking at the various flower gardens. Just as a FYI, even in full commando mode, no one lost a shoe, or had their shins gouged while I handled our nimble little umbrella stroller. We went directly from one attraction to the next, but without throwing elbows, or running small children over. I had made ADR's for the Rose and Crown, but was not feeling hungry at all, still full from our lunch. That was going to be repeated every day for the entire trip. I had made ADR's for every night, and just could not make any of them, as we had no appetite! We started our tour in Mexico where we road the three caballeros boat ride.

These are shots we took inside the pavillion. and this one outside, on our way to Norway:

In Norway, we rode the Maelstrom ( the viking ride) and we encountered our 1st wait time! 20 minutes in standby. We enjoyed the ride, Hannah really liked it when we went backwards! They did not play the movie, the lights in the theater were all on and the exit doors were wide open. We would have stayed to watch.:littleangel: From Norway, we visited China and took in the circlevision presentation. before the movie, a host played traditional chinese music. It was very relaxing.

Sounds like your trip was a lot like our September '09 trip. We have the Unofficial Guide too and used the touring plans commando-style. But the crowds were so low that I don't know how much of a difference it made. But it was nice to have the flexibility to jump on an extra ride with no line or to stop and watch a street show.

I also relate to you on the last-minute trip planning. Our September trip was booked 45 days out and our January was about a month out. Thanks for your compliments on our TR, by the way--I hope everything worked out well for you. Looking forward to more!

By the way, you didn't miss much with the Norway movie. September we had the same experience you did--walked through, no movie available. So, January we decided to watch it--it's OLD!

Ready for more popcorn::

Thanks! next time, we'll take a more relaxed aproach, maybe add a few more days, maybe even resort hop!!:teeth:

In Germany, We bought some gummi bear candy, And I had a beer and a pretzel. We sat on a bench and people watched for a bit. We talked about the countries we visited and the ones we still had to visit. after a while we moved on to Italy, where I took a photo of the Doge's Palace of Venice:

From Italy, we visited the American Pavillion and waited for the next viewing of the American Adventure. We used our time to enjoy our gummi bears and tour the museum on the 1st floor as the next show would start at 6.

From America, we visited Japan, we were bummed that we missed Matsurisa, we were looking forward to the show. We walked the japanese garden path in the twilight, and found it very peaceful. Hannah is normaly chatty, and at first I thought her silence meant she was asleep, but she was just soaking it all in. I guess she reached her state of Zen. We then strolled the streets of Morocco and then viewed the Impressions of France film in the semi-circlevision 180 theater. Hannah slept through it. Afterwards, we crossed the bridge and enjoyed a couple of songs from the British Invasion in the UK pavillion. We watched the Canada film and found a nice park bench to wait for Illuminations. While we waited, we enjoyed Off Kilter as their stage was right behind our bench. My camara battery was dying, but I was able to film the entire Illuminations show with my Ipod Nano. We had a great view of the show but the winds blew all the smoke our way! I would also sometimes feel the spent powder or shell packing material rain down on us. Very good show and prime viewing angle, but the smoke irritated slightly. After the show, it was closing time and we waited for the crowds to die down a bit before we made for the exit. While on our way out, I took this photo:

I like how the cast members waved to us all as we left the park, in the same way they greeted us in the morning, again making our day spent there personal. We made our way to the bus stop. They were crowded, but we were number 6 and 7 in the line for the next one so we were able to find a seat. We got to our resort, and did some shopping at the gift shop, but we didn't stay long we wanted to go to bed because we were going to the MK the next day!

Day three. Today is our Magic Kingdom day. We are going to use the Dumbo or die plan that makes sure we cover all the rides that would appeal to yonger guests. It's cooler today and they predicted rain in the afternoon. We had are ponchos in the stroller's saddle bags in case. Again we were up early for breakfast and made our way to the park via shuttle bus. We arrived by 8:30 and made our way to the entrance plaza to wait for the rope drop show. We found that the plaza was not full at all , there was maybe 700 people tops and had plenty of elbow room and got a good spot in front of the station.

The fatigue is starting to set in...

We brightened up once the show started!! and when we heard the steam train whistle we were on our feet clapping and cheering with everyone else!!!

Some magic pixie dust, and streamers and the party is on!

We inch our way through the burm, and then there we are! Town Square!! we walk down main street and I tried to take some photos of the castle as we walked and tried to stay out of the way of the main street streetcar!
WDW2010128k090.jpg

I like how the construction tarps they use to cover the buildings are made to look like the buildings they are covering. I think they just use green tarps in Disneyland.

1st ride of the day: Dumbo!!
WDW2010128k091.jpg

Then, Cinderella's Carousel, and yes I rode it too...
WDW2010internal007.jpg

She's loving it!!
WDW2010internal009.jpg

Then we rode Winnie the Pooh, and Peter Pan. Then we went to the speedway. Hannah worked the wheel, I worked the pedal.
WDW2010internal011.jpg

Astro Orbiter and Buzz Lightyear were next and we were again lucky not to have any lines. We made our way to the Main Street Station to ride the train over to Frontier Land.

Hannah really wanted to ride Splash, but it was down for rehab. I had to show her the flume was dry, because she was not taking my word on it! We made our way to the rafts for Tom Sawyer's island, I snuck in a couple of fast passes for BTRR, just in case. While on the Island, we heard the howl of the wolf coming from the Haunted Mansion, and Hannah wanted to go check it out as this is her favorite ride in Disneyland. I promised her, we would circle back and ride it, but we should visit toon town 1st. She agreed, and before we left, we stopped to see the country bear jamboree. I had not seen this version since the mid-80's and Hannah had never seen it at all.

Our 1st generation gap would occur at this attraction. I loved it, she was not impressed. Maybe because it wasn't presented in 3D or in THX surround sound. She was totally, meh about it. So we left and we took the train to the toon town depot. Gadget's go coaster was Hannah's "1st" rollercoaster (she either forgot about test track or thought it didn't qualify) and said she would ride it if we could see Donald's boat after. I agreed, but she was still a bit nervous ( she left her earplugs in the room!). We rode it and we visited Donald's boat as we agreed. Then she asked if we could ride Space Mountain! I said we would try later later on.

After we toured TT we made our way back into fantasyland to ride it's a small world. The facade to IASW in DL is much more impressive, but inside, the ride is essentially the same, although DL's version has been updated to include Disney characters in the various lands. I like the original version, Hannah enjoyed the Disney character version at Disneyland. Gap #2!

We both loved Mickey's Philharmagic, though!! after the show our ADR for Cindy's was due, so we checked in, I took this photo just before we got there and as I did, I felt some drops of rain for the 1st time that day.
WDW2010internal019.jpg

We had our photos taken with Cinderella (hubba, hubba) and made our way up the stairs to the dining hall. We were seated at once and for a moment, I did get the sense of being rushed as had been discussed on the boards and in reviews. I used the techniques learned here to slow down our efficient and friendly server by asking her to allow us to order drinks 1st, so that we can review the menu. She was very understanding, and for the rest of our meal, the feeling of being rushed never returned.

This is a very nice place to have a meal and at first I thought I might have at least worn a shirt with a collar, I was totaly buying into the atmosphere of having a meal in a "royal banquet hall" and felt, for a brief moment, the need to dress the part. The feeling eased away, as I glanced around and saw everyone else was as casually dressed as we were! Hannah had the rotisserie chicken with pasta, I had the prime rib. The princesses would be announced one at a time, and the first to work the room was Snow White, then Aurora, then Jasmin, and Belle. Hannah had photos and autographs with all of them, but I don't know what happened to Jasmin's photo, it may have been accidently erased.
Here, Hannah is wondering what to do with this role...

Here are our host princesses minus jasmin (sorry jazz!!)
