Are these things supposed to hurt? I have the bleaching trays and bleach. I placed them in my mouth and after a few minutes, my gums began to hurt! So do I assume that I'm bleach-sensitive or what?!

Yes. I did my top teeth with no problem, but when I tried to do my bottom teeth, I couldn't stand the pain. You should not use them until you speak to your dentist.

Yes, they hurt me like the dickens as well! The dentist gave me some flouride gel to use in between bleaching treatments that helped with the sensitivity. I don't think I could have handled it otherwise. You may want to check with your dentist and see if he can give you some. You use the flouride gel the same way you do the bleach....just don't get them mixed up!

I even find some tooth sensitivity with the Whitestrips I am using right now.

I bought the Crest White Stripes for my son when his braces came off. As we were leaving the dentist office that day, the orthodonist also gave us a bottle of Colgate Simply White.

I had Kirk use the White Stripes and he really complained about them burning! I talked to my neighbor and she said her daughter said the exact same thing when she used them after her braces. I could not convince Kirk to use them after the 2nd day. He wanted to try the Simply White. That stuff doesn't hurt him one bit! :sunny: Wonder what the difference is?:confused3

So funny you posted this I just bought some Rembrandt 2 hour white. I used it for 40 minutes and actually did notice a difference without any sensitivity or gum pain, but I was readi ng some reviews and people who used it for the whole 2 hours had sores on their gums for days. I dont think that I am going to take that risk, I'll just have my dentist do it.

What is the percentage of bleach/peroxide in your cylinders? I have had the 10% and 20%. My teeth are not that sensitive, but if I use my trays more than a few times a month they hurt!

I just looked at the strength and it's 22%! It started to sting within a minute of putting them in my mouth. (my gums looked white - I don't want to bleach the gums!) I think I'll wait and talk to my dentist when I see her at the end of the month.
