OTUP Direct and Resale restrictions

I should know this already but for some reason I'm drawing a blank.

I own two contracts on a single membership. One is Direct and the other is Resale. If I purchase OTUP, is there anything specific I need to tell them to make sure they associate the OTUP with the "Direct side" of my membership so that they'll be usable at all of the resorts and not just O14?

I don't think they are "associated" with either side of the membership, just the membership as a whole. OTUP are their own thing, they always work at any resort at 7 months since they are bought from Disney directly, but have no home resort priority regardless of what resort/contract they came from

They are added to the membership in their own temporary contract.

Since you own a direct contract and can book the restricted resorts online it will show up as an option to choose if you are trying to book one of those online.

If you didn’t have the direct contract, you’d have to call to use because your account would be blocked from the restricted resorts for online bookings.

Just remember, any eligible points of your own that are banked or borrowed have to be used before any OTU points can be applied to a reservation.

And of course, thee are only good for bookings 7 months or less from check in.

Yes because it’s the points that carry the restrictions and not the owner.

Those who don’t have online access to RIV, have to call, but you would have to do that when buying anyway.

It’s the same with transfers. An owner who only owns restricted points can get a transfer of non restricted points into their membership and then call to use them at those restricted resorts.
