OTU points and paid membership program

So who is buying points tomorrow? I am. Gotta make a ressie. Cancel and swap them for an upcoming trip (made within 7 months) Our NYE splurge on a 1 BR Poly Tower TPV sucked up a lot of points. Ha ha ha.

I just did this earlier this morning. I am going to cancel my one-night reservation and switch out the OTUP with 24 points from our 2025 pts.

If I have one membership number, but two contracts, which contract does the OTUP go to? Do I tell them which one?

Neither - the OTU points are a ‘contract’ by themselves.

I just chatted with a CM online who helped cancel my 'fake' reservation and swap out my 24-2025 points with the OTUP.

So concluding my story today.

After 2.5 hours to secure the points. Cancelling the res and and the “free points” not being applied in reservation and chatting MS, they had to talk to a manager and then ultimately tech support it still was not resolved without my intervention. I got an email later today with a new reservation (they said they would most likely cancel my reservation but hold my room while they rebooked it.) I asked them if in the new reservation they would “find” my 12 points and apply all 24 to the upcoming reservation. They found my 12 but I still had to go back in and reorder the two contracts to apply all my OTUP. 12 from BWH and 12 from VDH.

In the end, I hope they see we should be able to purchase these online. I also get they can’t be “applied” to an existing reservation, but it seems crazy we have to make a ‘fake” reservation and go through this.

Either way, I just got the value of paying for membership magic.

Yup. 12 for BWV and 12 for VDH. Thought it was crazy as well. Wonder if this is some sorta of accounting/biz write-off kinda thing.

Reallocating worked easier for me, I didn't need online chat help or to call back. The system seemed to find all my new points, and I just choose them when rebooking. It let me cancel my "fake" reservation online immediately after I bought the points this morning and then I immediately reallocated those points my self by modifying my existing reservation (but just choosing the same dates as I originally had), so I used the OTUP in my non-home resort reservation that I already had booked.

No member services was needed for any step except buying the OTUP for a "fake" stay.

This is good news it seems to be working as normal with the exception of having to select 2 contracts to use the OTUP instead of 1. I can deal with one more mouse click.

Still catching up on this. I want the BOGO pts ( 12) for a 2026 reservation. Can I buy them now without making a reservation? I have to book at the 7 month mark for a May 2026 reservation.

You have to buy them for a throw-away reservation in the UY that covers May '26. It would also need to be no more than seven months from today. So unless you have a June UY I don't think you can do it now.

You can just wait until you are at the 7 month mark to and buy them at that time.

You have all of 2025 to purchase for any trip that happens 7 months or less…so that takes us into trips as late as June 2026.

If I want to purchase 24 OTU points they are tied to my use year and can only book 7 mo out. You have it correct in terms of when things will expire.

And, you can only buy one set of points in 2025 with the deal so if you buy them in your 2024 UY, then you can get them for your 2025 UY until we get to 2026 and you buy into the program again

You can do the bogo in both 2024 and 2025 UY but you can only do a total of buy 12 get 12 free during the Benefit Season (currently Jan 12 - Dec 31 2025). So if you only needed say 16 points in UY2024 you could buy 8 / get 8 and then also buy 4 / get 4 in UY2025.

Has anyone with MMB been able to purchase the BOGO OTU points under a membership not eligible for membership extras? I thought I read somewhere that this was possible as the ability to do it was tied to the owner and not the membership but member serviced told us we could only purchase under our direct membership.

I purchased mine last week. Member services tied it to my direct membership, not my resale.
