Otherwise great trip marred by glitch at CR

DH and I checked in at CR yesterday for our last 3 nights at WDW. We were assigned garden wing so DH asked if there were any tower rooms available. Front desk said there were none Wed. night but they would check for us and leave us a msg.

This AM, we got a msg that we have been moved, that they didn't have MK view, just water view, and that we have to clear out of our old room as if we were checking out. The room is not ready so check back this afternoon for the new room number. So, before we can go to EMH at MK, we packed up and left our bags with bell services.

This afternoon, we went to the front desk re. the new room. It turns out that they moved us to (get this) the same damn building (garden wing) on the first floor with a water view.

We spoke to a mgr. who apologized and gave us a credit. I told the mgr. that if the front desk person simply told us there were no tower rooms, then we would have stayed put in our old room, and not have wasted park time to pack up all our stuff!!!!!!

This makes it 2 strikes against the CR. The first is that we had concierge add our remaining park hopper days to our room key right after we checked in. They said we were all set but when we used them at AK, it read "voided."

Let's hope there are no more "glitches" before we leave on 12/15/07.

Before this happened, we were having a great time.
 
I am sorry to hear about the problems you were having and hopefully you will enjoy the rest of you're time at WDW. I agree 100% that the Cast Member made the mistake in this situation, but you can't change what happened and at least you got that credit so it's better then nothing.
 
Wow - glad to hear they compensated you. That is a REALLY bad mistake in my opinion. What a big waste of your time!

Ouch, I'm soooo sorry that happened to you, I understand how precious park time is.

I get nervous when they add my ticket to my room key, I always think it will not show up when I get to the gate. So far my key has always worked, but it looks like my fears are not all that unreasonable. Next trip I will make sure it is checked and rechecked.

Sorry this happened to you! I'm glad you trip was nice otherwise.

BTW what happened when your key said "Voided". How did you get in?

CM at the AK gate sent us to guest relations where we were given re-entry (paper) tickets and we were told to go back to CR concierge and get room keys re-cut.
 
I have had problems with the CR too! Once my entire reservation was lost (good thing I brought all my paperwork, but they essentially made me do all the work to prove it), and one time I never got my room until 6:00, and when we were lying down resting before dinner, (do not disturb sign up) a maid barged in to get a bunch of stuff she'd left in the bathtub (we hadn't noticed they were there.

I've heard lots of stories. I don't think their management is as good as the other deluxe hotels.
 
Oh boy, I am dreading check in there next Wednesday. I was told our room was on high priority because I have requested a special cleaning because of my Asthma and because my mom requires a HA with roll-in shower. I can just imagine what kind of trouble I will have, I also have paid for a Tower MK View room. I have only had trouble once at AS Movies, but it really wasn't the fault of the CM helping us, it was the CM next to her.

I will make sure to report from our room as soon as we get there.

I wouldn't be. There are a hundred thousand other guests who have never had a problem at the Contemporary, myself included.

I was just at the CR for 7 days, 12/2-12/9/07. I did not encounter any problems at check-in, with housekeeping, or any other area. I had a great trip at the CR and will be returning again in December 2008.:thumbsup2

Don't worry. For every 1 complain there is probably thousands of people who never had a problem. People tend to report complaints rather than compliments.
 
Okay, yeah, it'd be particularly annoying to pack up all one's stuff, only to find the new room was pretty much no different from the original room (except, well, the patio?).

But I'm confused - did the OP have a tower room reserved and checked in to find all those rooms occupied for the night? Or were they originally assigned to the correct room type but expressed interest in an upgrade?
