Ok, so i'm somewhat in the process of planning everything out with a special someone for they come down to California (Long story short, we're going in the end of november/first week of december to disneyland as our first date/their first visit for a week) We already have somewhat of an idea what to do in the area / Downtown Disney, but we don't have a clue about the outside area.

I suggested we go to Universal Studios, In n Out (They never heard of it!) But other than that, we're out of ideas. I've never truely stayed in the LA/Orange County area since i'm about 2 hours north from it, so do you guys have any suggestions? The Beach? Museums? etc? we're most likely going to spend another week/do it during our breaks from disney. Thanks!

San Diego is fun. There's beaches, the zoo, wild animal park, sea world, old town, Coronado, the USS Midway (aircraft carrier you can walk around), Balboa Park, boat tours, etc.

Or you could go to Catalina Island. Or the Huntington Library and Gardens is fun to walk around and so is the LA Arboretum if you want to see some interesting gardens. The Gamble House in Pasadena is interesting. There's the mission in san juan capistrano. There's also dana point, the irvine spectrum (similar feel as DTD but bigger and not disney), the LA Farmer's Market. Those are just some random ideas off the top of my head.

Go to Hollywood. It's neat to wander around and look at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the footprints at Grauman's Chinese Theater, see a movie at El Capitan. Must for us is to visit the Kodak Theater (big Oscar fan) and the halloween shop (can't remember the name).

You can also hit up Knotts Berry Farm, it's not that far away from there and thhere are more roller coaster rides than DL. If you are going into the LA Area, you could always hit up Santa Monica. I know you said late Nov/early Dec, but they have a pier at the beach with fun boardwalk things to do. Then you walk up a couple of blocks and have the Third Street Promenade which is a street closed down to traffic and there stores, kind of like an outdoor mall. They even have street performers in the streets sometimes.

I agree that the LA County Arboretum is terrific. We spent a wonderful morning there. If you're interested in an art museum, I think the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena is fantastic. I also recommend the Griffith Observatory, it's really interesting and an important LA landmark.

We've gone to The Grove shopping center on several trips. The farmer's market next to it is really something. I can't wait to go back there.

Thanks guys, guess I can do some more research on these things, the person i'm going with loves art, so I guess I can look for something on that too. :)

And yes, I know theres disneyland, and downtown disney, and california adventures. :P

Oh, well then definitely look into the Huntington Library and Gardens because they have art there. Also Norton Simon Museum (as someone i think mentioned already), LACMA and the Getty. The Gamble House would also be interesting to an art lover because it's all done in the arts and crafts style (like the GCH!) so there is lots of art within the architecture to admire.

you can always tour the different levels of the mickey and friends parking garage!! RFLOL
