Other than DLR, where should we take our Teenage Daughters in Hollywood?

Hi Everyone,
We will flying into San Diego, visiting SeaWorld and Legoland (to please the little brother), then heading to Disneyland for 4 days. We will have a rental car.

We thought that our teenage daughters would enjoy driving through Hollywood, seeing Mann's, Kodak theatre, Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood sign etc.

Does anyone have other specific ideas of must see places for teenage girls? Where do the stars get their Starbucks, where is Britany's gas station that she's always getting snacks... goofy things like that. :scared1:

Thanks so much for ANY help.

check out http://seeing-stars.com

make sure to check the calendar to see any upcoming events/premieres.

disney has the el capitan theatre which is right near the chinese and kodak theatres (although its primarily a movie theater). adjacent to that is the disney studio store & ice cream shop (or whatever it's called)

right in that area is a hollywood wax museum, the ripley's believe it or not museum and a few others.

there is of course universal studios.

also nbc offers a studio tour as do warner brothers and sony. you can do a driveby of the disney studios too.

and there's wicked at the pantages

We go shopping at the Grove and the Farmers Market. It's a vibrant shopping area. I never saw any stars when I was there, but then I was there on a busy weekend day. Your teenage girls may enjoy shopping and eating at the restaurants there. Or they may just want to sit outside a cafe and people watch.

Venice Beach and its boardwalk is often shown on TV and might be fun for the girls to check out. :)

My daughters love the BEACH, where the hunks are(as they say) and USH. Two years ago they ran into the actor that plays in Van Helsing and something else, Hugh something....their thrill of the year.

CBS Televsion City is a fun destination if you want to be a contestant on The Price Is Right. Look into that, it might be a blast.

3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is nice and by the beach, where you can go visit the Santa Monica pier too.

There are the Star Tours where they bus you around past celebrity residences.

Studio tours might be fun for them. Window shopping on Rodeo Drive in BH can be fun for the inner-shopper.

The Griffith Observatory is great and it has the best views of Hollywood and the LA basin. Go up there, you will love it.

What are their expectations of LA / Hollywood?

We took kids on a tour (for work) of the studio they film American Idol at... they thought that was really cool...

i second this! the views are incredible, the observatory is fascinating and there are little hiking trails that shoot off from there as well- so you can actually walk over to the hollywood sign!

I'm going to move this to our So Cal board, so everyone can share the info :)

Shopping might sound regular, but the Grove is really beautiful!
We took our kids to Pink's Hot Dogs....a legend and it was fun and the hot dogs were great! We did Mann's Chinese Theater and had a treat at the Disney's Studio Fountain Store (I think that's the name) across the street next to the El Capitan Theater. We saw a movie there too which was cool.
We walked across the street to see and take photos of the Hollywood sign, which was from a distance. I think it would be SO cool to get up close!
You can go to Burbank for some of the studio tours too. There is SO much to do in that area. You might want to have your teens help in planning it out as to what they would enjoy. I think they would enjoy walking around/shopping at Downtown Disney as well!
Have fun!

I always always always recommend the Warner Bros studio tour. It is pricey, but I always feel that it is worth it.

It's also fun to walk around Hollywood to see the walk of stars, etc.

Go to lunch or dinner at Gladstone's on the beach in Malibu . . . awesome seafood and you can't beat the location.

How much of a hike is the Hollywood sign from the observatory? :confused3 Our DD is 6 y.o. - would it be too much for a little one? We're going in May if the time of year (thinking weather/heat-wise) makes any difference. :)
