I was wondering how many cruise terminals there are in Cape Canaveral. If we stay at the Radisson and take the shuttle, will there be folks on the shuttle that need to go to other terminals or will they all be going to the Disney terminal? Thanks all!!

There about a half-dozen ships that come in from time to time, but there will only be as many as three (including your Disney ship) in port at any given time.

Disney Magic
Disney Wonder
Carnival Glory
Carnival Fantasy
Royal Cariibbean Mariner of the Seas
Royal Caribbean Sovereign of the Seas
Holland America Zaandam
Ocean Club Cruises Mirage I (bankrupt)
Norwegian Cruise Lines Norwegian Dawn
Royal Olympia Cruises Olympia Explorer
Sterling Casino Lines M/V Ambassador II
Suncruz Casino M/V Surfside Princess

Wow, what great info, thanks! In what order does the Radisson shuttle drop folks off. I am hoping the Disney terminal is the first. I can imagine the Radisson shuttles are a bit confusing with so many people sailling on different lines. We will have a car and are considering having hubby drop off the family at the port, then go back to park and try to get on the next shuttle out himself.

Our shuttle driver (from Budget) told us that only DCL passengers are allowed into the Disney terminal so we had to drop off the other passengers first (Carnival). It only took us about an extra 5 minutes. I'll put up with an extra 5 minutes for that added security any day.

When visiting the www.portcanaveral.org as Horace suggested, it says Port Canaveral is the #2 cruise port in the world. Interesting, but which port is #1? Miami?

Miami certainly makes that claim. Among boasts at the Port of Miami web site:
<table border=0><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>The Port of Miami remains the undisputed "Cruise Capital of the World."</p></td></tr><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>Miami home-ported 18 cruise ships and nearly 3.6 million passengers in Fiscal Year 2002.</p></td></tr><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>One out of every three North American cruise passengers sails from Miami.</p></td></tr><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>The Port of Miami is homeport to Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International and Windjammer Barefoot Cruises.</p></td></tr><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>Miami offers a wide variety of cruise destinations - Bahamas, Mexico, Caribbean, South America, Europe, the Far East and around the World.</p></td></tr><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>Eight mega-cruise ships docked at the Port of Miami on March 8, 2003 breaking a new cruise record. Combined, the eight ships measured over 7,286 feet and embarked approximately 19,000 passengers.</p></td></tr></table>

In researching this answer I also came across some other interesting tidbits...

<table border=0><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>Port of Miami, Port Canaveral, and Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) are the three busiest cruise ship ports in the U.S. The Port of Los Angeles is the fourth busiest.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td><font size=3><b>• </b></td><td><font size=2>Port Canaveral briefly passed the Port of Miami in 2000 in terms of passenger numbers, but nearly half of Canaveral's total that year came from the two gambling ships which sail twice daily. Miami easily held the lead when counting only overnight passengers.</td></tr></table>

Also, Jacksonville is a new cruiseport (Carnival) for Florida.

Some new ships coming to the Caribbean include:

Princess Caribbean Princess and a second unamed ship in the Princess line.

RCCL and HAL also will be adding new ships to the Carribean that are under construction. Which home port is the question, but Tampa and Jacksonville have a lot of available terminal space, international airports, and interstate highway access.
