Other interesting SSR Tidbits

Since we live in Saratoga NY - it was cool to see a few of the other details.

1. Street Names
Broadway - Main Road through SSR, this is also the name of the road that runs through the shopping district in downtown Saratoga NY

Union Ave - This road will lead to "The Paddock" buildings (nice naming), the road runs by the Saratoga Race Track in town

Avenue of the Pines - It isnt on the map, but they had a sign up right after you come through the entrance gate. This road runs through the state park in Saratoga

2. Congress Park
The name of the area (4 buildings) that are opening now. There is a Congress Park in downtown Saratoga

3. Pictures
There are many pictures up that have images of Saratoga. In our room was the Grand Union Hotel. Also - at the quiet pool, in the laundry room there were pictures of the last two Travers stakes. This is the biggest race run at the track each summer, some call it the 4th leg (or jewel) of the triple crown. At check in there is a replica of a horse from the carousel that is in downtown Saratoga.

It was nice to see the attention to detail, these were just some of the things we noticed that I thought some people might be interested in.

I also live just outside Saratoga Springs and while I'm not a DVC owner I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks just to pick up SSR news.

Thanks so much for these tidbits and all your reports, Eric. I've been telling my friends who are DVC owners how well Disney did their research on this one.

Glad you had a great trip, and at least you had fairly nice weather to come back to in "Saratoga North."

Coming back was tough, but like you said, at least we are getting to the warm weather here (finally).

I really liked those touches, they didnt have to do that stuff, because who would really know? Being from Saratoga - it really was nice to see that they did do some research into the area and we felt right at home!

Last year my family and I almost moved to Saratoga Springs, NY for my husband's job. We even had put a deposit down on a lot. Long story short, we couldn't leave our friends and family. DH still commutes part of the week to Albany, so who knows what we might decide in the future. I had always wanted to be a DVC owner, so when I found out that their new DVC was called Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa...I couldn't sign on fast enough! I knew I was destined to "live" in Saratoga somehow!

That's one pretty town you live in.

Thanks. Saratoga is very nice, we love it here. Upstate NY does have a lot to offer (Saratoga, Racing, Adirondacks, Lake George), but we just dont get enough of that Florida Sunshine, so SSR felt like a nice fit for us too!
