Other Family Backed Out...ADR Sharing?

Hi there! We planned a trip for June, and had the other family we were going with just back out. I managed to alter most of our ADRs, but I have two that I cannot change online.

1) Should I just call? In the past I've had CMs tell me that they look at the same availability we do, so if I can't find a different reservation for a lower number, what's the likelihood they can?

2) If I can't get a smaller party size, is it ok to post in the "Cancelled ADRs" thread and ask if anyone from the Dis wants to join us? One ADR is for a ROL Tusker House breakfast (5 spots open), and the other is for the new character breakfast at Trattoria (5 spots open), and I feel awful keeping a table so large when it's just myself, DH, and DD...but I don't want to run the risk of losing either since they were fairly hard to come by in the first place. But I also don't want to break the rules of the forums either by posting there when I'm not actually cancelling, just offering open spots in the party to others.

Thanks in advance! :-)

You don't need to change anything. Just show up for the ADR and give them your name. They don't penalize you for having less people. I know you are trying to be nice, but no point losing your ADRs over it.

AND they won't seat you at a table of 8 with a party of 3, so you won't feel lonesome! lol
That was a loverly thought, btw!
Sparkle on and have a great vacation!

Thanks! I just...feel BAD. I'm holding onto such a large table, and we only need half of it. An entire other family could have reservations if I could just modify it. But I'm terrified to call and have a CM that doesn't understand what I'm trying to do accidentally cancel my ADRs entirely. Oh well. I tried!

Calling and having the CM misunderstand is a legitimate concern since the easiest way to reduce the number is cancel and look for another reservation. Instead, keep looking online for a reservation for 3 and if that doesn't work, try for 4 since most of the time you'll be seated at a 4 top. If a reservation comes up close to the time of your current reservation it will ask if you want the new reservation instead. If you find a res for 4, you will not be charged the no show fee for the "missing" person as long as at least one person shows up for the reservation. You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread for your month at the top of this board. The rules are in the first post.
