Someone told me about shirley temples and I had those on our last cruise...any other non alcoholic drinks I can ask in the main dining room that is free (besides your regular ol' soda)

For what it's worth the iced tea is actually brewed in the dining rooms not the syrup mix from the machines and they also have ginger ale that isn't available in the drink machines so I suspect that is actually bottled.

I was just browsing the internet for some other fun drinks that I could ask for and actually found a few recipes. I will have to ask our dining team for these on our cruise in May. I guess I'm just looking for something different to drink that can be easily made with what's on hand onboard. Check out some of these recipes...

Sprite Zero Orange Bubbly
  • 4 Ounces Minute Maid® Orange Juice
  • 2 Ounces Sprite Zero™
  • 2 Ounces Seagram’s® Club Soda
  • 1 orange wheel
  • ½ glass full of ice

Non-Alcoholic Long Island Iced Tea
  • 4 Ounces Coca-Cola®
  • 4 Ounces Minute Maid® Lemonade
  • 4 Ounces Gold Peak® Unsweetened Black Tea
  • 1 lemon wheel

Caribbean Sunset Mocktail
  • 4 Ounces Sprite®
  • 2 Ounces Minute Maid® Orange Juice
  • 2 Ounces Minute Maid® Lemonade
  • 1 Dash grenadine
  • 1 each: orange wheel, lemon wheel, and maraschino cherry as garnish

Are all non-alcoholic drinks free in the dining rooms?

Does it extend to drinks like iced coffees, spiders and milkshakes? And juices, for example, sparking apple juice? Or is it only soda based drinks?

No, the restaurants offer a non-alcoholic specialty drink every night on the menu that goes with the theme, but they are not free. Milk Shakes and smoothies are also at an additional cost. Apple Juice, Orange Juice, milk and coffee are free of charge as well as hot tea, but specialty coffees would be a charge.

Here are some mocktail recipes that you might ask for, I don't know for sure if they would make them for you though.

=) I know the usual drinks you can get...I'm looking more off menu drinks that you can ask for that doesn't require an upcharge ;)
If you're looking for mixed drinks that require 2 oz of this, 4 oz of that, syrups, etc. that a bartender would have to mix like a cocktail, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an upcharge of some sort. They have nonalcoholic specialty drinks for sale every night. If your drink requires the same amount of work and same # of ingredients, I think they may charge. Kids can get chocolate milk and I always get ginger ale.

I agree with this. If they are blending a drink, I can see an upcharge. We were able to get half lemonade half tea and shirley temples in the dining room for free.

So I thought room service was free? 24/7
So not all drinks ordered from room service free?
So when is soda free?

Soda from room service is in cans not a fountain so it is charged to your room. Soda from a bar is also charged for. Soda in the MDR, Cabanas or on the pool deck is included in your cruise fare

Sodas via room service is at a charge (also at bars). Soda in the MDR's and from the drink stations on the pool deck and in Cabanas are free.

Most of the room service items are free however there is a charge for some items. (Also please remember to tip your room service delivery person as they are not tipped out of your standard gratuities.)

I've never been charged for a virgin Mai Tai, (orange and pineapple juice plus grenadine with a cherry). I don't know about other mocktails though.

Our friend was drinking Arnold Palmers last cruise. Hubby also had diet coke with cherry (not sure if it was a syrup or just whole cherries they put in)

I didnt know Shirley Temples would be free. Are they made with Sprite or Ginger Ale?
