OK, this is kind of a weird question, but here goes. I am dreading the thought of my kids and I, and DH, all trying to get ready in the morning. Would it be wrong to bring my kids to one of the "public" bathrooms for us all to use the facilities instead of going one at a time in the cabin?

I've also heard that the showers near the fitness center are very nice, and that some people split up and send one spouse to shower there, while the other stays in the cabin.

Has anyone tried this?

okay--I think this is kinda weird but who am I. I guess I feel everyone should shower and take care of business in their staterooms. We had 4 in our stateroom, I guess we never felt rushed with the split bathrooms, we just planned it out to utilize our precious time.

Are you talking about brushing teeth, washing faces and such? The public restrooms are not on every floor. Why would getting ready in your stateroom be any different than getting ready to go out at home :confused3 And yes, I think it would be a bit "odd".:scratchin

I thought that might be the response - that's why I ran by on the boards. Someone I knew suggested it, and I wasn't sure how widespread (if at all) it was.

:goodvibes That's ok sweetie, you'll never know unless you ask:thumbsup2

While I wouldn't brush my teeth and do other personal hygeine things in a public restroom, I do LOVE those spa lockroom showers! After a spa treatment, I will generally take a shower there to get the oil off vs. doing it in my stateroom, just because I love the showerheads. They used to have better shampoo/conditioner too, but I really like the new DCL products now.

If you have a cabin with the split bathroom it is nearly like having 2 bathrooms since there is a sink in each.
But yes, on more than one occasion I used public facilities while ours were tied up.....but never to bath.

I can understand using the showers in this case, but not specifically going down there to use the showers and not the spa.

I use the showers in the locker room after working out and after spa stuff....but would definitely feel odd just going in there to shower.

I don't think you'll have a problem with people getting ready in your stateroom if you have the split bath (cat 10 and better). I'd feel very odd performing private functions like toothbrushing in a public restroom. Also, the public restrooms aren't really very close to the cabins. Are the kids young enough to shower or bathe in the evening before going to bed? Then they'd just have a face wash and toothbrushing in the morning and you'd have 2 sinks available as well as the shower.

If you have a crowd that can't wait turns to do their business, I'd go to the public ones. I wouldn't use them to brush my teeth or to otherwise get ready.

I didn't have a split bath on my last cruise, so I haven't really figured out how it works. But if it means there are two sinks, that will definitely help.

I did absolutely love the new shampoo and conditioner Disney gives you now - it is really yummy.

yup, 2 sinks. One has a sink and a stool, the other has a sink and a shower/tub. You'll find these in the Cat. 10 and above rooms.
