OTC Meds question

I am in the minority on this thread, but the only things on that list that I've ever brought is sunblock for everyone and bonine for myself. When I've needed band aids, ointment, ibuprofen etc... I've just gone to first aid.

My wife brings one of everything from CVS when we go, but I can tell you it is super convenient to have what you need when you need it. I'd much rather have the hassle of packing more just so that we don't have to try and hunt around one of the shops for what we need.

I take all that plus anti diarrhea meds for both adults and kids...anti itch cream..latex free band aides and gloves..antibiotic cream as well as Vitamins. DD is allergic and picky so having our own stuff is important. IMO its better to have all your stuff on hand than to have to pay huge prices or suffer while you try to find items needed.

I think there is sort of a case of diminishing returns. Yes, it is cheaper to buy those meds at home and bring them, but we don't tend to need them at home or when we travel. Our last trip I had a mini pharmacy and most of it expired before we used it so that was a big waste. So, this trip I am bringing: sunscreen, sunburn relief, tylenol for everyone, bandaids, blister pads, neosporin, and dramamine. If we need pepto or cold medicine, we'll have a car or can get it at the gift shop on the off chance we need it. Just something to think about.

I bring whatever I think I might need. I'd rather have it and not need it than not have it and wish I did. And after my last trip, I now have added Sudafed to my packing list. I ended up with horrible ringing in my ears, and had to have some sent to my room from Turner Drug, as the gift shops don't carry decongestants. Your list looks good to me, OP!

I'm wondering if I'm going overboard with packing over the counter Meds for me, my Spouse and my daughters ages 3 & 6. This is a 10 day trip

For the girls: band/aids, neisporin, Benadryl, Motrin & Tylenol.

For my spouse & I: DayQuil & NyQuil, Motrin, Imodium, sudafed,Bonine,

For everyone: 2 large bottles of sunblock, Hand sanitizer liquid & wipes, Aloe gel for potential sunburn

Also taking a prescription for Zofran, just in case that nasty stomach flu that's going around hits us.

Am I nuts for bringing this many Meds we probably won't need? I just don't want to spend Disney Prices for them if we do need them.

What (if any) otc Meds do you bring for kids and adults?

Like another poster said there is a point of diminishing returns. And someone else also said only you know what you will use.

We travel with a pharmacy: I am on all sorts of meds :sad2: because of all my meds, I try to limit my OTC that I have to pack. If I can get what I will need, then I will not pack it.

So of your list, I would only pack: 1 bottle of Sunscreen(can always get more if you run out), aftersun lotion, bonnie, sudafed, motrin, and band-aids.

Bananas are great for upset tummies and help fix other tummy issues:rolleyes1 They are my go to when I travel

I always bring adult and kid Motrin, band aids, neosporine (so) diaper cream (even though the kids are 3,5 sometimes my dd asks for a little after a hard Bm) baby wipes, thermometer, Benadryl adult and kid, tweezers, lotrimin, ex eye and ear drops, and a nebulizer-although God bless DS has never yet needed it while on vacations. I feel like it's a lot of stuff and thought about packing less this time but then I realized what if
Someone needs the "boo boo cream" and we are already in our room for the night and I'd have to go out to the main hotel area to buy it. So I'm still bringing it all

If you have room to bring it, why not just pack it for piece of mind. I would maybe add a dollar store bottle of pedialyte to the list--they are smaller than normal bottles and are great for tummy bugs or just dehydration.

What would you really need instant access to? We'll have all that in the hotel but im only planning to carry sunblock, sanitizer and benadryl since my husband has severe allergies plus gluten ease for me.

Just back. I packed everything and we used Tylenol, Bonine, Advil, neosporine, Tums. The one thing I wished we brought was diaper cream or Aquaphor. My daughter got terrible chafing on her thighs from the heat and humidity. We had Body glide, but it didn't really help after the fact.

That happened to my daughter on a trip as well. I had stuff in the room for it but we weren't planning on going back to the room for a few hours so I just stopped by a baby care station and bought a small tube to use while we were in the park. Hope your daughter's chafing healed up quickly.

Oh, I should have gone to baby care! She's 10, but wore a dress one day. Thus, the chafing. It did heal in a few days, but she was uncomfortable.

Now that you mention it, I seem to have a bout of upset stomach on our trips on occasion and have never thought about taking along anti diarrhea. Thanks for the suggestion.

My daughter was 8 at the time but was so desperate for relief (because she failed to mention that this chafing had started the night before -- so it was pretty bad by the time I realized she had it) that she didn't bat an eye about going to the baby care center. The nurse there was really nice and sympathetic.

Your welcome..we have needed it in the past and not had it..not a pleasant vacation. Now I don't forget it!!!

Even at home my desk is a mini pharmacy. All sorts of pain relief, stomach relief etc. I'm one of those people who like to be prepared!! :jester:

I usually bring a little bit of everything in some sort of pill minder. Biggest item is Motrin/Advil/Tylenol. It's usually whatever I don't bring is exactly what I need that trip.

I don't see anything wrong with your list of meds! I have everything in a clear bag so we can find it quickly when someone is ill. I also grab extra Chapstick, body glide and biofreeze.
