OT_My DD is a freakin genius!!

OK, so I think my DD (she'll be 2 July 1st) is a genius or just very mathotical like her Mama! Backstory, I count everything, my DH thinks I'm nuts. I count in my head as I climb stairs, I count every rock as I rock my DD at night and I remember numbers and see numbers patterns in crazy stuff like addresses etc.. Anyway, my DD is the same way, granted she can only count to 15 right now, but she counts everything, climbing the stairs, cheerios, fingers, stuffed animals and her abacus (sp?).

She's a genius right!!!???

I have the same OCD! My husband always wonders why I got the math OCD and not the cleaning one.

On a side note, I was a "counter" too, but never knew why...bored in class? count the ceiling tiles....long drive to grandma's? Count the telephone poles....move into a new apartment with 2 inner doorsin the hallway and a flight of stairs leading to our apartment? Count the stairs, count the steps to the first door, then the second (outside) door...

Guess what? One of our neighbors had a fire, and we had to evacuate our building....the stairwell was filled with thick black smoke, and we couldn't see a darn thing. I have my 9 month old in our arms (FYI, jumping out a window was not a feasible option...windows were painted shut!) and my hubby freezes at the top of the stairs.....I yell, "it's 13 steps down, 6 steps to the first door, and 7 more to the outside door." Luckily for us, we were ok, and had to travel no more than about 25 feet or so all told (give or take). I only realized later that my funny little quirk really helped us out of a dangerous situation!!! so go ahead...count away!!!
