I'm looking for some help. Does anyone know anyone who works at Future Shop or Best Buy, etc. I'm trying to locate a XBox 360 for this Xmas.

I was told that Future Shop at Upper James in Hamilton was to get some this morning. They did, but what they didn't tell me was people were lining up at 5am to get the few that they got. Of course they were gone by the time the store opened.

It seems that a few are getting shipped, but I need to be at the right place at the right time.

Anyone got any inside information on this?

I'm not really willing to pay more than retail price (ie. Ebay) so I'm looking to go and purchase it myself at a store.

I'd really really appreciate it!

Oh...I just took one off lay-away this morning at WalMart!!!

My girlfriend is Halifax couldn't find one - and we had them here, *briefly*...and I snagged it, just in case she couldn't get one in the city..

If I'd known you were looking, would've just shipped it to you.

She managed to get one from EBGames... www.ebgames.com

Good luck!!:)

Anyone else - any suggestions??

For FS and BB try to see if you can order it online to pick up at the store they may have them for the online store before they get them in the stores.

I would wait to get one, as right now there have been alot of problems with them and many returns as the cpu is running too hot and melting components inside. From what I have been hearing like one in four is being returned because of problems. Personally I would wait till they work out the bugs. I know it is the hot gift right now, but it could end up being literally THE HOT GIFT!!! I think it is the people that play it non stop for hours that this is happening to. I can't say for sure, it would only make sense that they would overheat that way. You can try ebay as well, but I imagine they are going for a premium there. Good Luck!

Actually they aren't melting anything inside it is running hot yea and many of the problems can be attributed to the fact that people are stuffing them in an entertainment centre and not letting it get the air it needs. My mother wors for a software developer and they have had a 360 and PS3 developer kit system for a long time and none of their systems have any issues niether do teh ones they ordered in from EB. MS is also paying for overnight express shipping to and from their repair shop if yours happens to have an issue. Currently there are less than 1% of all units sold that are having any issues. It is a great console and I am by no means a microsoft fan but this system they got right the first time.

I was under the impression from my student that works for future shop that alot of units were having problems. The problem is that when a unit is not allowed to breathe the heat generated in the unit will melt components(or cause them to malfuntion horribly). I run into this problem all the time when I am fixing a puter. ( I am also an A+ computer tech, but I don't do it for the money or a living). Apparently it can be attributed to their cooling fan (more than likely it is too wimpy). I know some people that haven't had problems either, but again I am willing to bet that constant running of the unit is causing the over heating and bad ventilation.

I am also an A+ cert tech no I don't do it for a living either not enough money in it anymore LOL. The problems are the games freezing and rebooting due to heat and the fans not providing enough air circulation for the machine to breath and cool itself properly when stuffed into small confined places. Nothing has melted in any that I have heard or read about or seen. They just get heated up and shut down and reboot and freez up kinda like almost every windows operating system LOL.
