Tonight my Dad & I had to pick up my Mom from my aunt's appartment downtown, so I thought when we would get back to Thornhill I would take home some food from Wendy's. I am refering to the location on Woodbine, which is right by the Mandarain. Anyway we pull up to the drive threw window & no one is taking our order. My Dad then pulls up to the Window & says I want to place an order. The person says they were closed, but on the window it says on Sunday's the drive therw is open until 12:00 AM. We were told they were closed because of the clocks having to be set back an hour. I am thinking to myself what hell kind of a reason is that? If the sign says til 12:00 AM, then that's what it should be. I mean when we got there it was 11:00 PM, so I don't see what changing the times back an hour had to do with any of this. Anyway thanks for letting me vent about this & now I ask you all what you think about this?

I see what you mean. The clocks actually aren't supposed to go back until 2 am, or something like that.

I wonder if their head office knows about this...

Then again, it could have something to do with the labour laws and trying to abide by them if some of those people have to open in the morning.

Interesting. :wizard:

They should be open if the sign says till 12am. I would contact the head office in Oakville and ask, that just seems weird.

Let it go. It's not woth the time of energy.

Quite true.

However... LOL ... a possible explanation might be that their computer equipment (ie, their cash register) goes into lockdown mode or something at a certain time....and it still thought it was midnight and not 11 pm. :confused3 I don't know anything about how fast food places work but that's my suggestion.

It's obviously bothering you if you took the time to write about it on the boards. A polite matter of fact letter to the manager at that Wendy's would at the very least give you some answers to your questions and hopefully some sort of gift certificate.

Good luck

Not false advertising, but employees closing early. Chances are it was a young duty manager, a quiet Sunday night, and they wanted to leave early. If they continuously closed before that time, it would be false advertising. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.

My wife is a manager at Wendy's in London and they all closed at 11PM/12midnight the night the clocks went back other than 1 store on Oxford which is open till 3 AM I believe which still closed earlier than posted due to the time change. So CR if you wish to complain to head office go ahead it isn't going to get you anywhere. It has to do with the staff an shift alotment you have to have a min # of hours between shifts I think it is so somone closing and working till midnight would be under the aloted time if they had to open the next day.
