OT Working moms.. tired of hearing about it?

I could never have been a SAHM for financial reasons[/B but wondered if I would have been the type to actually enjoy it. Well, I had my answer: the summer of 1999, my company merged and I had 2 options: to go on unemployment (with the chance to go to school through them) or go back to my job (that I hated, b/c of my bosses and the hours 9:30 to 6 with 3 small kids). I was extremely fortunate to have a wonderful babysitter (Nana) who watched them because she loved my kids and didn't love money that much and kept them overnights if necessary. Fortunately my 2nd husband has lots of neices and nephews and jumped right in (picked them up, fed them dinner, got baths done) so that when I got home around 6:30, I actually had time to read, play, and spend quality time with them.
I chose to go on unemployment (beginning in June of that year) and by the end of the summer I was ready for school to start (for my kids and myself). Granted, the 3 of them being so close in age and having one difficult child (I could tell you stories!) really put me to the test. Now, I love my kids and waited a long time to become a mom, but I guess I was so used to NOT being with them 24/7 that it was really tough for me....I didn't realize how much work it was being a mom/SAHMtime with them. I guess everything works out one way or another. I am very close with my kids these days (even though the difficult one is still taking her own path through life).

I agree ... it doesn't matter what you do, you will be judged for whatever decision you make. And ALL decisions are right if you and your family are happy.

I decided to work after I had children (I am a teacher) and got grief for working. Now that my children are older and many of the SAHMs have gone back into the work force and work year round, they make me feel guilty for having my summers off.

It is a no win situation. Ignore them. It almost seems like they are giving you these "digs" because they know it bothers you. Perhaps you are better at your job than they are! ;)
