OT: Wife Swap 1/20/2009

I've been googling Stephen Fowler since yesterday and you would not believe the amount of backlash that the show AND his family has received since the episode aired. People are truly disgusted with him and his uppity wife. His business affiliates have been bombarded with emails and phone calls calling for his immediate dismissal. Their name and address have been posted all over the net and they have received some pretty harsh calls, including threats. There is even a facebook page that was made called Go Home Stephen Fowler. I don't think I have ever seen such hate for anyone off of a "reality show." Guess dear Stephen with all of his education wasn't smart enough to think that his actions could be potentially damaging to his reputation and career:rolleyes:

Normally I'm not quite so mean, but you know, this guy totally deserves whatever karma has in store for him.

One of the other posters mentioned his multiple references to his GRE score. That bugged me, too. His correlation of GRE to IQ was pure fiction!

Anyone think England would want him back after this?:sad2:

I also looked on the internet for comments on that show. Holy cow!

I like how their friends are saying it's the editing that's making him looked so bad. :rotfl2:

Yeah, it's the editing. Who are they trying to fool? Oh that's right, we're all uneducated, fat, lazy, podunk tv watchers.

Having taken the LSATs in order to get into law school, I can completely agree with this statement (although I have no experience with the GRE). So many people take a GRE or LSAT or those med school tests and then decide that because they scored well on them, they *must* be the mostest especialific amazeroni human beings on earth.

Dude. It's a test. 6(ish) hours of your life in an overly proctored room with a hundred others. Not particularly smarter, not notably more valuable, and certainly not more special than anyone else. :scared:

Oh. I took the GRE. I am not qualified to write a tome on logic, nor am I too dumb to do basic math--both of which would be implied by my GRE score.

It sounds different from the LSAT, though. We took the exam on a computer at the Sylvan Learning Center, and if you were really bad in a section (in my case the math section!) the questions got progressively easier (when I got the question about how many CDs it would take to record an amount of music, I knew I was blowing chunks!)

Moron Fowler probably did better than I on the math section, but I would bet a dollar I balsted him out on the other two sections. Which by his logic would give me what a 200 IQ?! Cool. :lmao:

I still say he's a big jerk.

What does GRE stand for?

It's the Graduate Record Examination, and used after obtaining an undergraduate degree in order to "prove" oneself capable of meeting the academic rigor of various graduate level programs.

The GRE is used for graduate studies in sciences and mathematics heavy programs. The LSATs are required for entry into law school (stands for something like the law school admissions test), and the MCATS are required for entry into medical school.

Basically, it's a racket that gouges your wallet and stresses ya out! :rotfl2: Can ya tell I'm just about done with law school and totally burned out on the whole process?

Thanks for the clarification. Never had a yearning to go to grad school, although I will most likely have to in the not so distance future...not in math or science (I'd be up the perpetual creek).

Basically sounds like any other test that gets you into the profession that you spent the designated # of years studying for and testing for. UGH

Good luck with the remainder of Law school.

Seriously?! I always thought it stood for Long Saturday Afternoon Test:rotfl:

We were disgusted by that man too. I mean, I know everyone (including the participants) expects culture clashes, but that was just terrible.

I didn't mind the uppity wife too much. She seemed to be out of her "zone" but she made the most of her time and seemed to do some good things with the MO family.

Stephen was just awful. And I agree that his wife looked mortified at the reunion. I wonder what kind of abuse she endures because she seemed to be back under his power at the follow up.

The first thing I said to my DH was that Stephen was the dumbest person alive to act like that on the show. I am sure he virtually destroyed his business relationships! And what bugged me was the MO mom wasn't even really fat and seemed to be pretty well spoken. I mean, she was a little overweight (and her son/husband definitely had weight issues) but she wasn't that bad at all and just needed a few healthy eating/cooking tips.

Editing?? Give me a break!! I can see how in some cases people could blame it on editing, but he clearly said what he did.....and that poor woman was so right when she said that if she could put up with him and how he treated her, she could do anything -- and she's right!!!

I am not hateful, but I am glad that guy is getting backlash - I hope he gets fired from his job (my husband is laid-off so I know that losing a job is tough), he deserves everything bad that happens to him.
