I want to get both of my boys the flumist vaccine this year. We got it last year at the pediatricians office but with my work schedule it is hard for me to get them there. I am wondering if anywhere like cvs, Walgreens, or target is offering the flumist this year. It would be so much easier to run them by one of these places on my way home from work. Thanks.

Target has it, Walgreens has it but not every store, RediClinic has it. Those I know of for sure. DS and I will make our 3rd attempt at it tonight, lol. I work, he has school, band, and work, and getting us in the same place at the same time is hard! Tried Target a couple weeks ago, turned out Target is in-network with my insurance for pharmacy, but out-of-network for medical, which FluMist falls under. I checked with Walgreens last week to make sure they had FluMist in stock -- we went on Saturday, and they looked at me like I had two heads. "FluMist? We don't have any FluMist..." I'm guessing they ran out. They also. according to them, aren't told when they get new shipments, they just get them.

So today we're meeting up at the RediClinic where we've gotten the vaccine for the past couple of years -- the wait there is just always long and I was trying to avoid that. But people already seem to be getting sick around here, and I want no part of that!

You can also go to www.flumist.com and search for the closest place offering FluMist.

Hope this helps!

I was offered the quad flumist at Walgreens. However my children's ped didn't have it.

I don't know about other states but in Pa you must be 18 and older to get Flu-mist at Target. I guess we will be going to the pediatrician after all...

Not to hyjack, but what is the difference between Flumist and the shot? Other than one is a shot, obviously!

I pretty sure the commercial I saw earlier said Walmart had the Flumist for $35, shots for $25. HTH :)
It may not apply to all walmarts but I work for a company providing flu shots at walmart and we have no flumist offered and our flu shots are 28.00.

Flumist is a live vaccine and can't be given to some people who can otherwise get the shot. I don't know all the groups who can't get it, but it includes children who are too young, people with compromised immune systems, people with asthma, and stuff like that.

You can get it just about anywhere here, including Wal-Mart, Target, Rite Aid, the local grocery store, etc. We don't usually get our flu vaccinations until the end of October, though, since flu season peaks in January where I live.

One difference this year is that while most flu shots are trivalent, made up of three components and offering protection against 2 A viruses and 1 B virus, FluMist is quadrivalent, containing 2 A strains and 2 B strains. There is also a very limited supply of the quadrivalent vaccine in shot form, but you have to ask for it and it might cost more.

FluMist seems to be in shorter supply this year too. Third time was the charm for DS & I yesterday -- there was one Walgreens near us that had 3 doses left, so we hightailed it over there after work. Happily Flumisted up now. :-)

Thanks guys. I am going to sit down when I get home from work tonight and call around to see who has any left. Hopefully I can get is all taken care of tomorrow.
