OT- When did your child stop napping?

My older dd completely stopped naps when she was 28 months old-just a few weeks after her sister was born. I was so sad because I really wanted a nap too! My younger one will be 2 next month, and she is showing signs that naps are soon to be a thing of the past. Some days it will take me 45 minutes to get her down, and then she will only sleep for 30 minutes! She is very crabby on those kind of days, so I think she still needs the nap but fights it so that she doesn't miss a minute of playing with big sister.

My DS is 2.5 and he still naps 2-3 hours each afternoon. Somedays he won't nap at all but most days he still does. In fact, I just put him down for his nap. We'll see if he goes to sleep... ;)

I need them to take naps, it's the only little bit of time I can get. ;)

DS 3years sometimes takes naps for about an hour and a half. He really does better with the nap.

DS 21 months takes naps also for about an hour and a half.

Although they never nap at the same time!

sleeping beauty, you sound like me...rest kids, so mommy can!!

my 2 year old has never been a great sleeper napper/he naps maybe 2-3 times a week for approx. 2 hours.

my 1 year old daughter was a champ sleeper from day one. she takes a daily nap for about 2 hours also.

My twins are 3yrs 8mos. They both nap 1.5-2 hours after lunch. They go to bed at 7:30, and are up most days at 6:15 (even on the weekend!) I think my DD will give up her nap before her brother. He loves to sleep. They are both cranky without naps. While on vacation, he will always nap for 3/4 hour or so in the stroller, and she will sometimes, too. Like others said, I am dreading the end of naps!

Right now I am shocked to hear most of your responses.

I run a daycare in my home and have done this for the last 8 yrs. ALL my daycare kids nap/rest until they are 5yrs old. They all have to lay down and stay quiet for 2.5 hrs each day, they all know this and I have no problems getting them all to sleep. Once they wake up they lay there until it is time to get up...no problems.

I have always said it is all about how you handle it...if you make it a fun and peaceful time, they go down with no problems.

Now my own boys is another story...once they wake up they are hard to keep in their beds quietly. :sad2: :bounce:

My older dd (now 10) gave up naps around 3.5yo. SHe was a terrible sleeper at night (just got better too), but would sleep in the car/stroller no problem. When I got pregnant again I PRAYED for a sleeper and thank the Lord I got one this time!

My younger DD (almost 3) takes a 2 hr nap every day (weekends are touch and go..sometimes she takes only 1 nap on a weekend). She goes to bed at 8:30pm and gets up at 6:30am sometimes 7am. Edited to add: she never sleeps in the car seat or stroller unless she is exhausted and even then it's only for 20-30 mins.
