OMG-
I WAS IN THE MALL LAST NIGHT AND THE WHEEL CAME OFF MY SONS STROLLER WHILE WALKING IN THE MALL. THE WHEEL JUST KEPT ROLLING AWAY AFTER THE STROLLER STOPPED! :rotfl:
THANK GOD MY HUBBY WAS WITH ME AS I HAD ABOUT 8 BAGS, MY 2 BOYS AND PURSE, NOT TO MENTION THE WHEEL WOULD NOT REATTACED AND WE HAD TO CARRY EVERYTHING OUT OF THE MALL!
FYI :IT WAS THE BABY TREND LITEWEIGHT STROLLER. I ONLY PAID ABOUT $50.00 FOR IT. i HOPE THAT THIS IS A RARE THING TO HAPPEN AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A FEAR OF MINE WHEN IT COMES TO STROLLERS!!
I GUESS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! SO TODAY I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW STROLLER!
THANKS FOR LISTENING TO MY RANT!
JULIE

Glad your baby wasn't hurt, and its a good thing your husband was with you to help.

This happened to me a long time ago with a Graco stroller. If you still have the manual it should have a number for customer service. If not go to the babytrend website and see if you can find a customer service number or e-mail addresss. If given the choice I would call the number or write a written complaint explaining the "accident" and my last choice would be e-mail.

My experience with Graco was excellent - I recommend giving baby trend the opportunity to make it right, especially if you like the stroller.

Good luck -

TJ

Definitely call the manufacturer. This could be something that others are experiencing and could result in a recall.

We had a problem with a warped and rickety wheel on our Fisher Price stroller. I called them and they sent a new one. But, it made me paranoid, and I always kept a close eye on that same wheel once it was replaced.

Thank goodness your baby was not hurt.

That's my worst fear! I'm always nervious that this might happen especially as we get more and more use out of our stroller.

Us too with the Baby Trend. Happened more than 10 times while we were at WDW. I didn't bother calling the manufacturer since I paid $40 for it- I threw it away once we got home.
For now I still use my big Graco at home (I have a SUV so I don't need the extra trunk space) but I've got my eye on a MacClaren before our next trip.

We also lost a wheel off of our stroller - while we were at MK! I had purchased a cheap ($29) Cosco stroller from Wal-Mart for our DD4. I figured even if we never used it again, it was cheaper than renting one every day. So on our next-to-last day, we went to MK for EMH. We went to BRTR during which DD4 fell asleep in the stroller. While everyone was lining up for the 9pm Spectro, we thought we would do some rides in TL and wait to catch the 11pm parade. So we we hustling through the jam-packed area in front of the castle trying to get to tommorowland when my husband was going up a curb with the stroller and one of the wheels fell off. Now, I know you get what you pay for, so we pulled over to the side and it seemed like the wheel just snapped back on. However, after 2 more times of falling off, I took a better look at it and realized that the plastic was actually cracked. So, for the rest of the night, he had to push her around on 3 wheels! (that was fun). We ended up renting a stroller for our last day. I was going to complain to the company when we got back, but after reading the manufacturers book, I realized that she was actually a little over the weight limit and with all of our bags that I kept in the bottom, that's probably shy the wheel broke. For our trip in December, I spent a little more ($60) on a better stoller - still cheaper than renting one for a week!

Thats exactly why I did my homework and got a stroller that would hold my DD's weight. We bought a Maclaren Volo for our last trip for DD(just turned 7 at the time). She is petite and weighed right at 42 pounds, but I knew from experience with my older 2 that while she might fit in a cheaper stroller, it just isnt easy to push with her being over the weight limit and I run the risk of it breaking like the previous poster's did. Our 2004 model bought in 2005 was perfect for us. It was only $64 including shipping and holds up to 55 pounds. Beats that rental price and it was great for those late evenings when DD fell asleep and no one wanted to carry her to the bus. With a rental you have to give them back and haul your kids to the car/bus.

The same thing happened to us. Except... we were walking in Downtown Washington DC and our DD was fast asleep and we were about 10 blocks from our hotel. This was this past July and it was about 100 degrees that day so we were not very happy campers.

You should have seen us pushing this thing through DC with our DD fast asleep and a wheel missing. But it got better!! The wheel actually was holding the axle on so eventually the entire axle worked it's way off. So there I was pushing a stroller with 2 FRONT wheels attached and no rear wheels through Washington DC in 100 degree weather. Not an easy thing to do!!

Now the really hard part came... try to find a new stroller in DC!! They don't sell them. I had to travel 45 minuted to Virginia to find a Toys R Us to buy a new one. Whew! I hope I never have to go through that again.

We had almost the same thing happen just 2 weeks ago. As I folded up our Baby Trend double stroller to gate check it I heard a snap. Thought nothing of it and we got on the plane headed for WDW. Landed, got the stroller, loaded it up with DD2, her carseat, diaperbag, backpack and coats... only to have the rear axel fall off one side as we headed into the restroom. DH semi fixed it enough to get us through the airport, carring everything except DD. We had to throw it out and rent a stroller at WDW all week.

This was our last hurrah with our 8yo stroller that we go over the weight limit on all the time. (All my kids fight to sit instead of walk.)

I've seen a few strollers being wheeled around the 'World without one of the wheels...they usually had a luggage tag attached so I figured they lost them at the airport.

When i was pregnant with my second child I was going to need a double stroller, however i hadn't even purchased it yet. While at a yard sale i came across a stroller for free. It looked like it was in excellent condition and absolutely the perfect type that i was looking for, but was missing the wheel.I called the manufacturer and for $10.00 i received a brand new wheel and great stroller.
