Well for starters, I'd start by not letting them use famously rich people as role-models.

My role models were my parents and my bigger brothers and sisters. Sure, they made mistakes too -- but nobody in my family was pregnant at 16 either.

Talked with my daughters about it last night.

They though that Ms J. L. Spears wasn't very responsible and it didn't suprise them due to the track record of the older Ms B. Spears.

Use this as an example not to emulate.

Probably won't be seeing any new Zoey 101 that hasn't already been shot.

Tell them the truth. The whole family is a trainwreck and this is what happens when you exploit your children for money. No boundries, no rules, no self-respect lead to pregnant 16 year old girls. My dd11 was shocked of course but it led to an interesting conversation.

My girls made the comment that she is barely old enough to drive, how is she going to look after the baby? The whole thing is crazy!

Our oldest hasn't heard about it yet but we aren't the parents to demean people heck our oldest was born almost 2 years prior to us getting married. I won't chastise my children for having sex but I will certainly explain to them the inherent risks with doing so.

I had a chuckle at the CNN headline along the lines of, "What will you say to your kids?" As if it's some sort of apocalytic, earth-shattering crysis that everyone has to confront... oh the humanity! Please. Telling your kids not to be so dumb is a good start I think.

My mother got pregnant with me at 16.... she turned 17 by the time I was born. I'm 43 years old and my mum is 60 years old. I brought up myself and my little sister and brother. Having that as an example had me waiting until I was 29 to have my first child and 35 for my second.

My 14 year old dd and I haven't talked about the Spear thing yet. However, I'm pretty sure she'll not give a crap about it....she's more interested in her own life as am I.

What did you tell your daughter when Britney shaved her head or got married in Vegas, then divorced shortly thereafter. Or when Lindsay Lohan & Paris Hilton got busted for impaired driving. Maybe tell her this is what NOT to do.

Explanation for my kids? Just another example of money doesn't buy happiness. Well, poorly managed money, even if there's lots of it, sure doesn't. And having lots of it sure does not equal having good judgement. May not be mutually exclusive, but does not guarantee that someone has good judgement or is a worthy role model.
