We are currently in the process of hopefully buying a house. The kids are both getting 90% new furniture for their bedrooms. DS is getting bunkbeds because our new house is in town and we are thinking he may want to have friends over. DD will be 5 by the time she gets to sleep in her new bed and I am undecided what kind to get her. She has been sleeping in a loft bed for several months now with no problem. I was looking at just a regular twin bed for her (This was after I explained to her that getting a new bed did NOT mean she had to get rid of her Tinkerbell blanket and sheets) but am now wondering whether it would just make sense to get her bunkbeds as well. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the new house, how exciting to be buying new furniture!!! My DD has a trundle bed. I love it - it's a twin bed with a trundle underneath. If someone stays over (which hasn't happened yet, she's just 3), you just pull the trundle out. I have used it a few times when she's been sick. It's very convenient and only takes up space on the floor when you pull it out.

we were considering getting our DS bunk beds but after I spoke with my SIL (it's mostly her kids who stay over) she said she would never let her kids sleep on the top bunk - it made me wonder how many parents feel like that, so now I'm not sure what to get DS

How about a twin bed for your dd's room and have an aroe (sp) mattress for sleepovers. Depending on the size of the room this may be a better opton than bunk beds. I think of bunkbeds more in terms of boys room although I'm not quite sure why?

We are sort of shopping for a bed for our 3 year old DD, and would like to get a trundle for her. :)

I'm nervous about having bunk beds, although DS age 5 really wants them!

We just ordered trundle beds for our two girls. We discovered that dd7 likes to have sleepovers, but doesn't want anyone to sleep in her bed. She also doesn't like to sleep on the top bunk. This way she can sleep in her bed and her friend will be beside her on the floor, but actually on a mattress that is basically inside a box that slides under the bed when not in use.

We got the same thing for dd2 (looking into the future).

WE bought DS a trundle bed when we moved. His is a day bed with a trundle. We all really like it. It looks nice and the second bed is right there for any guest. His lower bed can be raised and attached to the top bed to make a king size bed also.

We bought bunk beds when DS was little and hated it. It just temps dangerous play situations when they have friends over, DS hated sleeping in it and most adult are not willing to sleep on that top bunk, where in the tundle bed an adult can use the bed if necessary.

Good luck shopping!!!!!!
