Hi. Sorry for the off topic. I am trying to research a toy, and have tried every spelling I can think of, but am getting nowhere. So I was wondering if with this large a group of parents on line, someone knows? - It is sort of like a marble, then it opens up after the kids roll it. DS called it "Bon Goo Gon" or something, but I can't seem to find it. He wants one for his birthday, which is coming up soon!

Is it maybe Bakugan?

I don't know anything about it but it sounds like what your DS was trying to say and I've heard that it's a popular toy for boys

Bakugan. It's very popular right now and a little hard to find. The sell it just about everywhere (Toys r Us , Walmart, Target).
Hope that helps:thumbsup2

Yup - Bakugan. One thing to watch out for - they sell single cards with figures that don't actually function like the normal balls. They also now make a separate game that works differently - I haven't seen it in action, though, so don't know how good it is.

Ds likes his (it was the big thing this summer), but be warned - they are small, choking hazards with magnets inside, so be careful if you have little ones around. If you get them, the starter pack of 3 or even the 6-pack are the best deals...

I hope you have an easier time finding any Bakugan stuff then we have had!!

My oldest has been asking for Bakugan for Xmas. We have had such a hard time finding anything. We went into Target one day last week, right at opening, and was finally able to pick up a few starter sets, the game board and a few other things.

My DS kept calling it Battle Gone!

yes, it is Bakugan. It seems a bit pricey for all it is. My DS wants a Bakugan birthday party but I can't find anything.

They sell Bakugan at the Japan Pavillion at Epcot. DS6 had some sort of religious experience when he saw it.

Not to hijack or anything- but- does anyone have any clue what they are about or what they do? He has maybe 3 or 4 of the little marble thingies. Mostly just things DH has bought him in Walmart to keep him civilized. Is there a game that you play or something? I guess I need "Bakugan 101 for Dummies". With Christmas coming up and everything I might need to get a clue.

The starter sets (or is it the 6 pack?) come with game instructions. There are 2 basic versions - speed play and a longer version. In speed play, you put out one card face down, and two people roll their Bakugan onto the card. You turn over the card, and then you have to figure out who won. Each Bakugan has a number printed on it that shows only when it is open (hit points, basically). Then, depending on what color it is, each card tells you to add or subtract points. Whoever has the most points wins that round. Some cards have more complicated things too, like making the numbers negative, or doubling the score if the card matches the character, but that is the gist of it. The long version is cumulative, basically, although of course there is more to it than that.

There is also a show, of course. Ds watched it constantly over the summer, but Johnny Test has taken over lately...

I don't know anything about Bakugan except my 9 yr old seems mildly interested. However, I saw a pack at Costco yesterday for $32.99. It seems (to the unexperienced eye) that it came with 4 balls, a board, and some cards. I tried to understand the game off the box and if that was all you needed to play, but it didn't really explain it.

but basically you have your bakugan marbles and your cards, there are 2-4 players and you each lay down a car (face down) infront of your opponent and their card will be in front of you. Then you take turn shooting your bakugan, once one lands on a card properly it will open. Plqay continues until 2 bakugan are on the same card, if they're both yours you win the card and you take it out of play, if their not both yours ( one yours and one opponents) then you battle, flip the card over. There are different types of cards; normal cards which just have the sector bubbles on the side indicating how much your bakugan gain/ loses g-points depending on their attribute, there's character card which will have the name of a bakugan at the top and if one of those bakugans land on the card then their g-points are doubled, there's also command cards which have tiny writing at the bottom of the card indicating that there is something you have to do ( commands vary.) but anyway the point is to have more g- points than your opponent- say my pyros (red) bakugan has 300gs and my opponents haos (silver- white) bakugan has 350gs and they landed on the same card, we would flip it over and look on the left of the card where the sector bubbles are and find the red bubble and the white bubble. Inside those bubbles there will be a number such as -50 or 100 this indicates the number of gs that you must add or takeaway from your bakugans power level. So if the card said in the red bubble: 100 than I would add 100gs to my bakugan's power making it 400gs. And say the white bubble said: -50 than you would take off 50gs form my opponents bakugan making it 300gs. So now it's 400 against 300 and mine's stronger so I take the bakugans and the card off the field and they're now mine, although I can't use the card again. PLay continues until 1 player runs out of Bakugan. And at the beginning of you're turn it is your choice to put down another card on the field of not, but if you do put one down than one side of the card must always be touching a side of a card that is already on the field.

My ds7 and several of his friends are into Bakugan. They are starting to get hard to find. And they're easy to lose.

My son just turned 5 and we have never heard of Bakugan, but he received 2 of the figurines for his birthday...a tiger looking one and something that resembles a dragon. We talked about exchanging it for something he would like better and I was going to return them to Target (thank goodness for gift receipts).
But, if they're the "hot" thing this year, maybe I'll put them on craigslist or e-bay instead...:confused3

They are called Bakgan! They are the stupidest toy in the world.
My son loves them though. I paid 5 dollars for ONE!!!! I told him if he wanted anymore he would have to use his allowance for them because i feel they are a HUGE RIP OFF! They look like they would make a good kids meal toy. I only bought the one because we had run into his friend in Walmart and his friend had got one and they were looking at them together and i felt bad saying no.
They are very popular this year and i found some deals on starter packs but i dont know if i will get him any for xmas though...

I will echo the statement that these things are VERY easily lost. My DD7 is into Bakugan and is wanting some hard to find red one for Christmas, along with the starter kit. She has misplaced 3 or 4 now and gets very emotional over these things and starts crying! :confused3

She has all boy cousins and usually follows thier intrests, ie: Pokemon, Bakugan etc. She does still like webkinz and Hannah Montana though

Just be careful if there are any really small children in the household because these things a definately a choking hazard for them.

Both my DS11 and DS7 are into these things! They DVR the cartoon every morning and watch when they get up. They are really hard to find and I've been picking them up when I see them. Wal-mart has been out but every now and then I catch a break and find them. There is also a Bakugan that is bigger then the others. You get one for like $10. Of course they want that one. I don't think that is going to happen.

DS7 just lost one the other day outside. He had it in his coat pocket and now it's gone. He paid for that one with his own money so hopefully he has learned something about taking care of his stuff. Then again, he's 7 so I highly doubt it.

I wouldn't bother - it sounds like you have the figurines, not the actual balls that open up.
