Dh and I went to see the musical We Will Rock You last night, and I just wanted to say it was FANTASTIC!! I was not a huge fan of Queen's music by any stretch of the imagination going into it, but now can't get enough of it! I'm a huge musical theatre fan, and I can say with certainty that this show had one of the most talented casts I've ever seen. If you have the chance, go go go! You will NOT be dissapointed! :dance3:

We have been discussing going to this, I think we will have to make the effort. thanks again.

I thought I'd give an alternate opinion on this one! We LOVE musicals -- haven't seen a show that we haven't loved ... until We Will Rock You. Don't get me wrong, the music and singing were enjoyable enough but we both thought that the story was terrible. I wasn't able to get immersed in the story like I could with any other big name Toronto musical where you are transported to another place... Phantom, Miss Saigon, Les Mis, Joseph, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Mamma Mia, Hairspray, Wicked... etc. etc. I've seen them all and loved them. I didn't think that We Will Rock You compared at all to these other shows. Throughout the entire We Will Rock You show I just couldn't help thinking "this is so dumb!". Now I do understand that it's supposed to be tongue in cheek humour -- and I usually get that but not this time around. Not sure why.

If you can get tickets at a good discount (which should be pretty easy these days) I say go and enjoy the music! But to me, a good musical should have a decent plot to go along with the songs and in my opinion this one did not.

My family loved WWRY! We have also seen many of the shows in Toronto and you just cannot compare this one to Phantom, Mamma Mia, Lion King etc.

I found this one to run along the lines of Tommy - it is a rock show with a little more sophistication!

I really enjoyed the music and it had quite a bit of local humor!

We went to it several weeks back (front row of the blacony dead centre....great seats!) and loved it.
One thing I should say,if your are expecting classic acting and an interesting story line....you are in for a disappointment. The show IS the music of Queen (32 songs in all....I recognized all but 1).The band and singers are first class which is what the show is all about (the guitarists are superb!)

I agree that the plot wasn't exactly sophisticated, and the staging of course can't be compared to something like The Lion King, but I didn't expect it to be. It's Queen. It's camp. But the music was just so terrific. The band and the singers were amazing!! :dance3:

Just got a post card from Mirvish productions.... they have a code for $50 tickets for any seat available in the house. We went Sunday and had row D orchestra left seats 10 & 11. they were off tothe side but I was very happy with them we saw everything, music was great, a lot of british like humour...
PM me if you'd like the code! :o)

I just purchased tickets using the $50.00 code for this Saturday.

Can anyone tell me what type of glow sticks that they are selling at the show and the cost? We are brining our son and I want to know it is worth the effort to purchase from the dollar store.

Thanks in advance:)

The glowsticks are the 'normal' type, orange, and they cost $2. I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap they were! I was thinking it would be much higher. If you're not in a crunch to save money, I would probably buy them at the show, just to be sure that they were the same colour. I think if you had a different one it would really stand out from the 500 clones around you. :)

P.S. Would you be willing to PM me the $50 ticket code? My DH and want to get tickets for my parent's anniversary. I know they'll just love the show! Thanks!

Thanks for the information!

I never thought that they would be priced so affordable!

Thanks again!

oops forgot to mention that I have PM'd you with the code :)
