www.blackbearcove.com it is located on the Hiwassee River

It is a new campground that just opened up close to our house. DH was cleaning a chimney near there today and it caught his eye. So he had me call and make reservations :thumbsup2 . The staff is very friendly.

Each site has water, elec, cable, sewer and Wifi ( 2.00 per day) all for $29.00 per day!!

We are going over Labor Day weekend, and they are even going to have a cookout for all the guests and have the UT game playing on a screen outside..WOOHOO....Camping, Food, and a UT game..doesn't get much better than that...well aside from Disney of course.. :teeth: I am excited!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just wanted to share in case anyone lives near or is passing by our neck of the woods...

(I am in no way affiliated with this place)

Happy Camping!!!!

It is about 20 minutes or so from Cleveland, Chattanooga is about an hour away. Murphy, NC is about 2 hours away. (I am just guessing at these distances give or take a few minutes).. :goodvibes

It sits on the Hiwassee River, but just on the other side of the highway is the Ocoee River (they had a portion of the olympics on this river) and Parksville Lake.

If you are into going tubing, ratfing, or kayaking this is the place for you!!!

Thanks for the post. We will be visiting their soon. although I wish it had more trees around the sites. You know, for more privacy. Hope you had a great vacation to WDW. :tinker:

Yes, I drove over there yesterday and I told DH the same exact thing about the trees. I guess having the sewer hookup at each site compensates for having no trees..I would pick the sewer hookup over trees any day... :teeth:

We are really excited about going...WeatherChannel.com is showing rain for LD weekend..I hope it blows over so the kids can play outside and not in the camper...LOL

We had a WONDERFUL time on our trip, but it was very exhausting!! The next time we go we will include more rest days.. :thumbsup2** Oh and both of the girls came home with hand, foot and mouth disease which the dr. seemed to think they got from the pools or water parks there, but all is well now!!!

Thanks for asking!!!

Just got back from 4 days at Black Bear Cove....When we arrived around noon, there were only about 4 other campers there. As the day progressed up until about 11:30 pm the whole campground was almost full with the exception of 4 slots.

We had a great time. They had a nice huge volleyball sand court (which kids and adults pretty much used to make sand castles in..lol) the river access was nice you could walk out into the middle of the river and it never went past your knees up until the water began to rise at about 3 pm.

Friday night they played Nanny McPhee for the kids on the big projection screen under the pavilion, Saturday they had a cookout and played the UT game, and Sunday they had Nascar on. The people that owned it were very nice and they live on site so if you needed anything they were always there.

The only thing I would change was the playground needs to be about 3 times the size it is to accomodate all the children, and they need a swimming pool for those (like me) who don't like to get in water that has living creatures in it..LOL (They did say they would have a pool in place by next summer).

All in all it was a great time and nothing better than having sewer hookup..that was the BEST!!! :teeth:

I actually thought about you guys during the game. I would have loved being surrounded by UT fans instead of sitting at home watching it by myself.

We cant camp for a while. I started back to school and DH works weekends. He is a manager at O'Charley's. Our next trip is late Oct. for fall break. We are considering "the cove".

Thanks for the report. It helps in making our decision. :goodvibes

I want to camp for fall break too, but DH has cross country meets that week and since he is the head coach now he has to be at them... :guilty:

We are talking about taking the cross country team to Gee Creek for a weekend so they can get a training run in, but other than that I am hoping for Spring Break!!

OH!!!! Make sure your heater is working good in October...It got COLD Saturday night and we couldn't get our heater to work  We about froze our rear ends off..LOL :cold:

O'Charleys, you said the magic word! That's what I miss from Tennessee--good O'Charleys salads and rolls!! I see on their website that they are expanding into FL a little--maybe they'll get to Central FL soon!
