We are leaving Pearson at 6:30 am in a couple of weeks, so I figure, we'll probably get up around 3:30 and boot it there.

That isn't my question...

Usually, we don't have a hard time staying up all day... but, this time we are going with my 69 yo mom. I'm wondering what we should do that first day? I have a feeling we are going to nap or something...... What do you usually do when you have a really early flight like that.

We have taken several early flights like that to the Caribbean & once even w/ my FIL who is 62.
Usually when we arrive we take it easy throughout the day, relax, have a nice leisurely dinner & hit the sack early to be totally refreshed for the next day.
Maybe you could enjoy your resorts amenities such as the pool for the day & get yourselves totally rejuvenated for park mayhem the next day.

My last trip I left very early from Pearson, so when we arrived at PC we checked in and had a nap for about an hour then freshened up and went for our reservation at Boma in AKL at 5pm

Didn't do any parks on first day, but had a look around DTD after dinner then headed back to room for rest of evening.

2nd day - Park opening at MK - so had to get up early again, but we were OK for it :thumbsup2

We usually unpack, have an early dinner and go to bed early so we are fresh for the next day. The older I get the worse I feel. It takes a few days to recover but the adrenalin usually helps:thumbsup2 We have done the nap thing but I'm not a good napper, I usually wake up grumpy because I'd rather be sleeping! Downtown Disney is always good for a Disney fix when you can't get to parks.

Getting in that early you may not get your room , I think 3:00 is the earliest you can get in.
Downtown Disney is very nice or just relax by the pool (depending on the weather of course)

Do you have a package where you paid for park tickets and room? If so, you might want to visit MK just for dinner and a gander at the castle! Tony's is nice sit down meal and on the quiet side. You'll have to eat anyway, so if you'll lose the ticket day, Main Street, MY castle and Tony's is a good option. You can also buy your autograph book at MK!

If you aren't going to do parks on the first day, I'd stay at the POLY and REST! Take a leisurely monorail ride around the lake. Enjoy a quiet early dinner, fill your resort mug with a decaf or tea, bundle up and find a beach lounge to watch WISHES and the ELP.

We spend our first days at Daytona Beach and do our grocery shopping....so you might consider doing a little grocery shopping on the first day too. Stock up on water, soda [get use to saying it], wrap fixin's, breakky foods and snacks....especially fruit and veggies. Nothing like spending an afternoon by the pool with a large selection of your own lunch foods....wraps with lettuce, salsa, sour cream, grated cheese. Cubes of cheese with refreshing grapes and flavoured crackers! Baby carrots with cold creamy spinach dip! YUM! AND OF COURSE a pink lemonade in your resort mug!

See you by the pool! Sandra

Aren't you supposed to be there 3 hours early for an international flight?

We got in early at the CBR last year 1pm, my DH took a short nap and I headed off to the pool- I was just too excited to let any time slip by!! It was the coolest thing- going from a wild snowstorm (remember last March Break??) to the warm sun in a short few hours. Just LOVED it! :beach: Then my being too excited, woke up DH, we went to see the castle and walk around, and then we went to BOMA for a late dinner. Met up with friends later that night back at the resort. It was awesome!!:cool1:

We usually try to get in on the early flights and head straight to the WDW resort. Thankfully, our room has usually been ready even though we get there much earlier than the posted check-in time.

I ask the same thing.
Remember: you will clear customs at Pearson (extra time needed), so you might want to BE at the airport around 3:30 to 4:00 AM. I hope it was a typo, when you mentioned you plan to wake up at 3:30 AM.

I know... no worries... I plan to wake up at 3:30 fully clothed. :goodvibes and hop in the car at this time.

This will be my 18th flight out of Pearson in the last 5 years so I figure I'll be ok. For some reason, customs is going to be at MCO for my flight.

I leave my house 2 hours before the flight. I live in Mississauga and the drive to the airport is 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. We use Park 'n Fly, either valet or self-park and take the monorail to the airport. We check in via internet and print boarding passes the day before, so we just walk in the airport and head for customs....writing the customs card in the line. No checking bags for us....CARRY-ON ALL THE WAY BABY! Once thru security, we usually have time for a washroom break and coffee before boarding the plane starts [30 minutes prior to flight time]. We have it down to an art form now. LOL! S

Hmmmm... I'm considering using valet this time around 'cause we have guests with us. Not just DH and I. Where do you get that??? We have only used the self park :P

I'm on the 6:30 flight tomorrow morning. I am planning on finding a nice chair in the shade to rest in the afternoon and then schedule a nice dinner. FYI - the website for AirCanada says to be at the airport 90 minutes before the flight. I am staying at an airport hotel as to cut down on my "getting ready time". I can't see how you would do customs in Orlando if you are Canadian?? They won't let you cross the airspace until you cleared customs?? I have always done customs here first.:confused3

I'm on the 6:30 flight tomorrow morning.

Can I sneek in your luggage? :rotfl:

Anyway, have a safe flight and a great trip and take lots of pictures.
We'll all be waiting for a trip report when you get back :goodvibes

We did the early morning flight this time and arrived at our resort at about 11AM. As luck would have it, our room wasn't ready. Kind of a special circumstance but we checked our bags and headed out to the WWoS. Not exactly what I had planned but it worked out.

I also didn't get to the airport until 4:30-4:45. That was still enough time for us to mess up our boarding passes, check-in, go through customs and go grab something to eat at Tim's. (Btw, is that the only Tim's or the only concession stand in an airport not accepting credit card?)

Are you flying a charter airline (e.g. Sunwing, Air Transat)?

I would suggest doing the same as many others. Relax by the pool if your room is not ready, if it is, check in and then relax by the pool. Then have an early dinner and DTD, or go to Hoop Dee Doo or the like for dinner. That is a nice way to start your vacation.
