Just wanted to share with you all.

Earlier this week, we stopped by the Fashion Outlet stores in Buffalo. I did my shopping at Coach and Guess and had my two big shopping bags with me from the two stores. DD6 wanted to go to the washroom and so we did.

As soon as we stepped into the LADIES room, there was a guy (maybe about 17ish) that was sitting on a bench INSIDE the ladies room (I let that go) chatting with I would assume his friend that was putting make up on. She was probably around the same age. Her jacket and stuff were spread out across 3 of the 4 sinks (again, I let that go) so my daughter who wanted to wash her hands before she did her thing had to use the sink to the far left. Okay, that was not the upsetting part. That's nothing. We went into a stall, did our thing and we were washing our hands when I heard this.

Guy: You know what I can't stand?
Girl: What?
Guy: Everything
(Laughter here, and I was almost waiting for something that was pertaining to me/us, I just felt it, I don't know why)
Girl: You know what I can't stand?
Guy: What?
Girl: Stupid people, like people who say "Like, what"! I wish they'd just shut up!
(Laughter again, although I did not say those words so I knew they were still not talking about me/us)

When we were about to step out, and I said "Cmon let's go sweetheart" to DD6, I hear this.

Guy: You know what I can't stand?
Girl: What?
Guy: PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES BUYING FROM OUR STORES.

It so happened that I was wearing pants that had "CANADA" on the bum and my jacket read "HOCKEY NATION" in big bold letters.

I chose to do the right thing and just leave because they are obviously ignorant kids, but I have this part of my personality that although I do not want any altercation, I occasionally want to put people in their place. If DD6 wasn't there with me, I would have said 2 words to both of them and one word starts with F and one word starts with Y. It took every inch of my "I'm a bigger person than you" upbringing to not stoop down to their level. But seriously, I so wanted to strip myself of my manners and just be at their level, be that in the gutter. I wanted to say that they are idiots because their economy needs rescuing so bad and here they are saying they don't want people from other countries buying from their stores?!?! Why? Because they can't afford to buy from the stores that I had shopping bags of? Because I had Canada written all over me? Or because I wasn't white like them? Jeez! Seriously! Rude, ignorant people who better shut their mouth before it fills with flies!

I was shaking with anger when I stepped out of that washroom. DD6 has been my saviour there because if she wasn't there, that scene would have been ugly.

There I'm done with my rant. Thank you all for listening.

You are a better woman then me. I would have gone off as soon as I saw him in there!

I live about an hour from Buffalo, please don't think we Americans are all like them. He gives NYers a bad name. Also, we do need your money, and knowing your money doesn't go as far as it used to here, we thank you for sharing!

Wow!! That is crazy, I am just sitting here thinking about what I would have done and I am not sure....I admire you for not sinking to their level, I am not sure I would have been as strong.

On a side note, what did you buy from Coach? Love that store....:cool1:

WOW!!
All I can say is those words were spoken by someone very IGNORANT!

Good for you for not giving them the time of day. :flower3:

Oh I would have been their worst nightmare I am afraid!!!

My friend was at the Outlet Mall in Dec..Christmas Shopping. She bought lots (!!) in Coach, some more in Kate Spade and somewhere else..hmmm..can't recall. Anyways--she and her daughter went into Cole Haan and tried on some shoes. In a flash..allllll of her bags were gone! There was no site of anyone. It must have happened in an instant. Police were called, Mall security etc..they were told this is a big problem at this Mall and judging by the increased security I saw at Walden Galleria last time I was there it might be there as well. She lost more than $1,800 worth of goods.

I am very wary when I shop there now...it's a little scary which is too bad because it was always a fun day.

Now that all being said-- I have noticed of late the abundance of discarded shopping bags and boxes overflowing the garbage cans as well as just dumped in the parking lot. I have NO doubt that those stem from Canadian shoppers not wanting to declare their full haul of the day, which is fine, do whatever you want, but come on, lets not be pigs. Throw the wrappings away properly. That kind of behaviour will not help us win any popularity contests! Right now, for the most part, we are welcome. Let's keep it that way.:confused3

Had I been the one walking in on that scene, my sensors would have gone off and no matter how bad I had to go I would have turned around, gotten a security guard there pronto, and gotten the guy escorted out of there. He had no business inside a woman's bathroom. I would have assumed they were up to no good and just hanging out in their to mug someone.

I appreciate your post. Thanks very much!

The more I think about it now, I should have just walked back out seeing a guy in there and perhaps called security. But it's done, and this will certainly teach me for the future...

To the poster who asked about what I bought at Coach, I finished Christmas 09 shopping from that store. They had wristlets there that were 50% off. Really great deals!

I did not see this, but perhaps I didn't bother to look or perhaps it wasn't as busy because I went on a weekday. I agree that if people did this though (throwing wrappings so they won't have to declare their purchases), that is their problem but they should respect the place and dispose of wrappings properly. That said, we've never gone to Buffalo and shopped and then came back. Our trips are always more than 48 hours so I declare everything that I buy. When we get to the Cdn border, I have all my receipts in my hand, all totalled up and everything.

No matter where you go, it's inevitable that you are going to run into ignorant people. People that do not respect others beliefs, countries, religions, and lifestyles. Personally I would have blasted him into smitherines (I have a volatile temper with a long fuse). I'm driving down to the mouse today (DL) on a 16 day vacation stateside. I've got a small laminated sign on the back of the van thanks to one of the kind designers on the DISign board. It says "Family Vacation 2009, Doing our part to stimulate the Economy". Figured that the USers would get a kick out of it. So I hope that everyone has a great day!

There are asshats in every country. Let it go. Besides he may have been packin'.

It doesn't matter where we shop, there's always going to be "something". Times sure have changed, and I sure hope that I raise my chilred well enough to know that they shold respoect all people-that means biting your tounge, not being rude and obviously waiting for their friends OUTSIDE of the bathroom. Sorry that that happend to you. It's insane that there are some teens and even adults that think that they have an effect on everyone elses world
