my DD (10) and I just finished reading the book, and she really wants to see the film. Is it true to the book? Based on the content of the story I don't think I have any concerns (she's fine with the Harry Potter movies) but wanted to check here first. We would rent it, not go to the theater.

Thanks!

my neice just turned 12, my SIL wouldnt let her kids see POC until they realized that their cousin who is MUCH younger was watching them. SIL took neice to movies to see it. Pretty true to the book, a few scenes with Victoria's group that werent in the book were a little intense.

I have not read the book but my MIL thought they were pretty true to the books (left a few parts out), she also the book was much better about telling the love story aspect of it. On that note, I have seen the movie and I plan on letting my DS7 watch the movie.

It was so true to the book! I loved it and saw it twice opening weekend. I can't wait for the DVD release in a couple weeks.

Actually, they changed a lot of stuff. I mean the main events are still there, but they just changed a lot of how things and where things happened. Added some scenes that weren't in the book, etc. And of course, left out a lot because they had no choice.

I think it was pretty true to the book besides a few things. The book is still SO much better, IMO. Like previous poster stated, they changed the order of some things, added some more intense moments with Victoria and James. There are some bloodsucking scenes too, from flashbacks of Carlisle. I cant wait until it comes out on March 21st! Is it sad that I am 27 years old and want to go to the midnight release parties?

It's not that true to the book IMO. I enjoyed the movie, but the book was SO much better. I will be buying the movie of course.....heh. It's ok for 10 y/o I would say

i enjoyed the book(s) a WHOLE lot more than the movie, but i do like watching it to bring it to life :)

I was at the theater at midnight on opening night with my 13 year old daughter (who got me to read the books) and then saw it another time with DH, DD saw it 3 times total!!! The movie stays to the book by means of Lead Characters, but a lot had to be modified because of the point of view of the book, a lot of internal dialogue and flow of events.

My DD14 is obsessed with the books. Read them all as soon as they came out in days. She wished the movie was more like the books, which she loved. But she still liked the movie and saw it a few times already. I have not read the books or seen the movie, just saying what she has said...

I would think if the Harry Potter movies are ok Twilight would be too. My 13DD has watched twilight twice and she won't watch POC movies because "they freak her out too much."

she is not a "fraidy cat" and as long as sex/language isn't really the issue I'm okay with it. (I'm sure she wouldn't talk to me for weeks if I watched it without her.) I'm sure we'll be fine.

If I remember correctly, theres not a lot, if any, bad language. as far as sexuality, there is one passionate kissing scene in Bella's bedroom. Also Bella's mother says "I hope you're using protection." or something like that. I really think your DD will be fine.

I am a HUGE Harry Potter and Twilight fan but we all know the movies are NEVER as good as the books. The Twilight movie is good but don't go in expecting to see the book on the big screen. It is just an adaption. I have to admit though as far as book to movies go, this one was done quite well. Go ahead and see it...if you liked the book you will like the movie. PS - I heard a rumor that the final book ( Midnight Sun ) is really going to be published! Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cheer2:

I think the movie would be appropriate for you daughter. I loved the books and although I know they were a teen series I felt any age could relate to them, to me the movie definitely was geared toward a younger audience I would say age 9-17 or so.

I'd say the movie is fine... it was pretty true to the book, although the book was much better going in details of their love :)
But, there was nothing that a kid couldn't watch IMO

i know nothing about these books or movies but i was talking with a friend who read them books and she was telling me about the sex in the second book. she said it was pretty intense the way it was decsribed, and violent. am i wrong? because if this is true, its def something i wouldnt want my daughter reading/ watching....
obviously i dont have to worry about this yet, shes only 2, just sayin.
i could be totally wrong though...

I have read all 4 books twice. There is no violent or explicit sex in any of them. They are awesome books!

The fourth book does talk about them having sex after they are married. It is not really explicit though. Right now my DD is 13 so I figure by the time they make a movie for the fourth book she will be old enough to see that too.

Did I see the same movie as everyone else? the movie is good, but I do not feel it followed the book enough. Many of the parts were left out and some parts were changed. I just hate when I read a good book and then see the movie and it is nothing I expected. Of course, we will still buy it, but I was quite disappointed in the movie.
