No one who wants to get work done and who grew up in the early video game years should visit Google's home page today.

Happy birthday Pac Man!

:rotfl2:

I was just coming over to post a thread entitled "My productivity at work today is horrible, and it's Google's fault".

But you beat me to it....cause I had to finish my game. :lmao:

I love it. It is now my favorite Google Doodle ever. And here I though everyone would be too busy with Google I/O to do anything else. I guess the Doodle team (yes, there is an entire department that does nothing but the Google Doodle) didn't get to go.

Here's a funny story about how I discovered this. I provide tech support for our office. I'm about to go to lunch when I get a ticket for a user whose computer is making a weird noise when on the internet, but stops when they close the browser. I told my coworkers to hold on, I have to go check this out as I was really curious. So I go to the user's desk and she opens IE and our company's site opens up. After like a minute I hear the Pac-man music!! I was like ***?? Then I noticed it's set to open 2 tabs for her home page, one of them being Google. At first I thought she was using iGoogle and had a Pac-man gadget. When I looked at it again I then noticed the board spelled out Google. We all got a kick out of this at lunch! :rotfl2:

After lunch I played. I got to the apple board, 27000 points. Not too bad.

If you click on "Insert Coin" twice, then you can get to a two player mode. Pac-Man uses the arrow keys, and Ms. Pac-Man uses the keys 'a' 's' 'd' and 'w'.

It's fun trying to play two parts at the same time. Give it a try!

Someone owes me an hour of my life back. I swore off google a while ago, so I don't go there very often anymore. That was pretty sweet though.

I judged a google doodle contest at school, we submitted a handful of doodles for an earth day contest from our MS students. It was pretty cool....none of them won though.

I have two Namco hand held games that plug into the TV. One has Pac Man, the other has Ms. Pac Man.

Time to go play! :happytv: (this is me playing Pac Man on the TV)

Charles Arthur adds: interestingly, as Apple, Google and Adobe war with each other over the importance of Adobe's Flash system, the doodle is written entirely in HTML, CSS and Javascript - Flash isn't required. That means it works on iPhones too...
** Although the sound is in Flash - so that doesn't work on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. (To move, swipe the way you want to go.) This, as a Guardian colleague points out, is the first time that Flash has made it onto the front page of Google...

I was using it on my iPhone and couldn't figure it out - I assumed it was Flash until I saw this.

Same story here!! I work at the data center for the school district. Finance called over & said when they bring IE up they get "circus music & then sirens". Their supervisor thought they had gotten a virus & was very mad at them! They did not see the humor in it when I told them it was Google!!
