For those who have been to NYC recently and checked in on availability at TKTS for day of show tickets, do you recall whether there was any availability for Lion King?

We are planning on going to NYC at the beginning of August and will want to take the family to a couple of the Disney broadway shows, likely Mary Poppins and one other. Initially, my thought was to make Tarzan the second show but DS keeps asking if he can see Lion King again on that trip. Normally, I wouldn't mind paying full price for the show but, since he already saw the show twice during its Toronto run, I'm reluctant to pay full price for tickets if there's a reasonably good chance of getting discounted tickets on the day of the show. (I get the sense we'd have no problem getting discounted Tarzan tickets anytime.)

Thanks.

when we were at the TKTS booth last week, there were no Lion King tickets...the only Disney production tickets that were available were for Tarzan...there was a guy outside trying to sell Lion King tickets....he said you could verify them inside, but they REALLY warn you not to buy tickets from the people hanging around...not sure if I'd trust them either, but that's up to you...good luck

On our recent trip to NYC we had the opportunity to see Mary Poppins. This is an AMAZING production and surely a "must see". I read rave reviews before seeing it and really thought there must be some overhype involved, but it is truly a magical show from the opening scene. Be sure to get your tickets before you arrive. It is now up for many Tony Awards and I have a feeling that it will be a difficult show to obtain tickets for in the near future.

We have seen Lion King twice on Broadway. We saw Tarzan last year when it first opened. Tarzan is definately worth seeing over Lion King for the third time. The actor that plays Terk is just sooo talented and worth the price of admission. I don't know about your visit, but there were some pretty good discounts offered through broadwaybox .com for many Broadway and off-Broadway shows offered during my visit in April.

We are going down to NYC next week.

TKTS told me directly that they NEVER have Lion King tickets. I bought them for full price. Another vote for broadwaybox.com, we bought Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast there.

I was there 10 days ago..didn't see Lion King tkts either at TKTS. We did Mary Poppins but we had those tickets already. Saw it (MP) in London last year as well and still cannot really see the hub-bub about this show. While I have always loved the story...I don't know, think onstage it is good not great. Oh wellllll different strokes!

We did really enjoy Legally Blonde though and snagged those tickets at the TKTS location.

Good to know... I am trying to decide between MP and LB. How much were the LB tickets through the TKTS location? I have a promo code right now for top rate LB tickets for about $75, and I'm wondering if I should go with that. LB is now up for some Tony awards, so they may be harder to get soon!

We got the LB tickets for $35 a tkt on the day of. They were mezzanine, centre and very good. MP is a good show..a bit slow in spots..but in general much slower paced. LB is non stop fun and the music is really good. It had yet to be nominated for it's Tony's so not sure how difficult tickets might be now to get?

Good Luck and enjoy whatever you choose!
